Similar thing happened to me in kano city about 30 years ago. The street vendor brought an attractive wrist watch. After making proper bargain and paid,he handed over the wrist watch to me.After he had left , I decided to bring out the watch from the case. Lo and behold,the wrist watch turned out to be pieces of stones. Lesson: Never buy anything from any vendor that does not have a known address. Never buy anything from any vendor that is not familiar to you or familiar to a known person to you.

I can't understand why people buy expensive phones when a VERY MUCH CHEAPER VERSION CAN DO. Just before Covid lockdown, I was in a bus coming from work and stood near the door and my phone fell to the floor and slid under a gap under the door onto the road. The whole bus occupants gasped probably expecting me to start crying or something but I calmly pressed the bell for the bus to stop at the next bus stop, got off the bus and walked back towards the phone which had by then been climbed upon and screen shattered by a double decker bus.

I picked it up, removed my sim and dropped the phone into the dustbin t a Tesco supermarket. I copuld do this because the phone cost me only £50. I replaced it with a £55 one from Amazon and the most expensive phone I have is my current one at £150 which I reluctantly bought because I needed fingerprint technology to access some work related sites.

I once too an ex shopping for clothes at Tejuosho market in Yaba Lagos and whilst trying on clothes she misplaced her phone under the pile of clothes and before she could find it she behaved as if someone in her family had died and she was close to crying and I just shook my head in disbelief.

Like my late Dad used to tell us, a car is meant to take you from point A to point B - any other thing is a luxury.

My phone was stolen in London too. Don't put the emphasis on Lagos. Scammers are everywhere. Infact, we are learning when you compare Nigeria to some countries...esp India.
