Ingratitude has many faces.

He may have recorded that song years before this situation with his sister.

But two things can be true. He can appreciate the good things she did, but also reject someone who has shown him a consistent pattern of behavior. Some of the worst people are still capable of doing good things sometimes. That doesn't mean you should ignore the bad. It says more about who he is as a person that he can look at someone who treated him that way and still show appreciation for some of the things they did. He could hold onto all that hurt and/or be angry, but he's showing kindness and healthy thinking.

You are like me, my own case is painful too. My brother and mother connived together and sent one rugged guy that is my brothers friend to attack me and deal with me but I dealt with the guy and left home that night because I might kill him..you could not believe it I have forgiven both of them and I did not use that experience to deal with both my brother and my mother.. Infact I am totally healed and I am the one that is even taking care of my mummy not that my brother he showed love to but there is one lesson I learnt God wants to teach how to forgive and I picked that lesson and I train myself by the grace of God to forgive all the people that offended me and God really helped me in that aspect of my life

Easier said than done. Dude was literally abandoned at the age of 4 or so. He literally had no father and mother figures. Till date she refused to reveal who exactly is his dad.

He forgave her but the scars remain.
