I know this class conscious arm chair professor is economical with the truth.

See Amosun’s right of reply and balance it up.

In a reaction to Utomi’s allegations, Amosun, on Sunday, according to The Niche, narrated that before he came into office on May 29, 2011, the Ogun State House of Assembly had blacklisted Utomi.

Amosun said, “Before I came into office, the Ogun State House of Assembly had passed a persona non grata on Utomi, and put its resolution in the state’s black book.

“So, I was curious when I became governor and called Utomi to ask what the issue was. This was entirely at my discretion and not because he reached out to me. But I reckoned that as one with some degree of name recognition, that should not be, and I wanted to know what happened.

“He, however, told me, amongst other things, that there was an ongoing construction in an Ogun State property that had become controversial.”

Amosun stated that he sent his team for an assessment of the land and that after the necessary evaluation, the team concluded that the land was valued at N50 million at most, which was against Utomi’s claim of N200m.

“I immediately raised a team for verification and to know what to do. The team I sent said the land was inappropriate because the said construction was being done in the car park of the Ogun property on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Road in Lagos State. My team then suggested somewhere else.

“But he didn’t want another place because, according to him, the place in question gave more visibility. After our in-house assessment, my team concluded he could not have spent more than N35m or at most, N50m on the construction as of then. At that point, I decided to visit myself.

“In addition, it was discovered that the so-called work done was hurriedly executed in the wake of the realisation that another political party had won the governorship election and would take over the reins of leadership in the state,” the ex-governor said,

Amosun recalled that he decided to give Utomi N100m to avoid the latter’s “investment in the state” going to waste,

“It was also obvious that what was being attempted was a move at ambushing the state government under my watch and presenting us with a Fait Accompli, a situation that would have generated a controversy about the demolition of an ongoing project.

“Just so that his investment in the state would not go to waste, I committed to making a refund of N100 million as against his claim of N200 million. He pressured me ceaselessly to pay him N200 million, but I did not yield,” he added.

Amosun noted that while Utomi tried to “sway” him by using “his Centre for Value in Leadership, CVL, through the instrumentality of an Award,” he rejected the offer.

He added, “At first, it all looked curious that I’d just been in office for about two years, and here I was being given an award, so I rejected it.

“But he insisted that I honour his CVL Solutions Conference Series with my presence, which I did, and I was given a plaque for participating. However, I did not change my position on the refund of N100m as against his N200m claim.

“A few years later, he complained to some people with the sole intent to malign me. When I heard, I called to tell him off because his problem was purely one of entitlement mentality. He even boasted, asking me: ‘Do you know who I am?’ Imagine! But I ignored him because I immediately saw through his true colour. In my book, it’s one law for everyone, no matter who you are.”

The ex-governor noted that Utomi “is not different from Zhongfu International Investment FXE. He knows he can not lay claims to any lawful damage done to his investment. All he has tried to do is a ‘me too’, which is very disgraceful.”
“Armchair Professor”? Read the below:

Patrick Utomi was born in Kaduna. He is a descent of Igbuzo in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. He had his primary education at St. Thomas, Kano 1960 - 1962; Our Lady of Fatima, Gusau 1962 - 1966; Christ the King College, Onitsha and Loyola College, Ibadan, finishing his secondary education at the age of 15. The entry age for university education was 17, so he enrolled at the Federal School of Arts and Science in the interim. He later got admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1973 to study Mass Communication. Patrick Utomi graduated from University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1977. He attended Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA, where he got his Ph.D. MPA, MA. He was appointed Professor of Social and Political Economy Environment of Business and Entrepreneurship at Lagos Business School in 2003. he has been a scholar-in-residence at the Harvard Business School and the American University in Washington, D.C.
Are you aware that he was appointed and served as an adviser to the late Shagari at the age of 28?

Oga, did you read Gbenga Daniel’s version of the story? Did you read Amosun’s admission of his fault for not doing due diligence on the trade Zone? If only you took your time, you’d see that Amosun, out of his political battles with Gbenga Daniels brought the state to disrepute. Amosun clearly was at fault for everything that went wrong.

Amosun doesn't listen to advice. His advisers were just there, they dare even advise him. He was a very terrible leader

Ogun State was harnessed so badly by his administration.

Despite having lots of offers to make the state greater, he siphoned all assets, and those he did, it was for his self benefit interest.
Wow. Such a shame.

Mostly to spite a predecessor.

One of the reasons some of us like Seyi Makinde is that. He finished abandoned projects of his predecessor. Even projects abandoned 15years
ago,E.G,The Akala Express way.

He only cancelled non performing projects. Others that were progressing he proceeded with it. And those that were abandoned he finished it.

Government should be contimum and I don't know why some just behave like that

On Saturday, Amosun asked the federal government to refrain from negotiating with Zhongshan.
It's now #metoo or what gan? Why wait until now before speaking out?
Very bad time for Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Regardless, a thorough and independent investigation is now absolutely necessary. Everyone involved must be invited for questioning by the EFCC and DSS. Anyone indicted must be prosecuted like FG did with the P&ID criminal case. For now, Senator Amosun is still presumed innocent.

May God bless Nigeria for ever! Check my signature for free stuffs!
oga amoaun, like most apc leaders was a terrible leader, why invalidate a contract because u were not the gov that midwifed it? Ogun is lucky the original company decided not to sue, otherwise there would have been 2 damage settlements hanging on it now.

Wasn't Ogun State Dangote's preferred site for his refinery but the government of the day muddled up the proposed plan.

Oga ElevationD, I am not talking of his educational credentials. I have my PhD in Engineering at age 22, was a full tenured professor in US university before 30-yrs old. And I resigned early (from a tenured position, I hope you know what that meant)at 45 to start my own engineering consulting firm in the US many years ago.

All his appointments that you mentioned are political appointments. The man was part of the management team of a car assembly plant in Nigeria and he and his team ran the company down.

He is class conscious and he think he is an expert in all things and needs to be regarded as such. I have no problem with that but when he now talks about his experience in Ogun State as if he is a victim and Omosun came and refuted his allegations and lies. I posted it intentionally because I first read his piece, knowing his antecedent, I know he is economical with the truth.

What both the ex-governors said was in respect to the Chinese company and not Utomi. Let Utomi respond to Amosun. Or has he appointed you as his mouthpiece?

You called him an “armchair professor”! Should we call you an “armchair Engineer”, having not had any personal encounter with you, allowing us to know you? Sure, the Igbesa issue brought up the matter with Utomi.

Where were you in 1983 when Buhari/IBB introduced their economic policies that suffocated the country? Where you there when IBB stopped the open general import license regime at the CBN and introduced his obnoxious import license allocation regime that started troubling the economy? Where were you when IBB devalued the naira in 1986 using some funny excuses. Where were you when IBB introduced SAP? Or are you not aware that IBB’s policies destroyed many industries and set the country back. What happened to companies like PAN? How did CFAO, Leyland and Steyr run out of business? Those were automobiles and truck companies. What happened to the textile mills which cost hindered of thousands of job losses with IBB? How did you expect Volkswagen to survive when even the Germans, seeing SAP, read the handwriting on the wall and walked away? Can you give evidence of how Utomi and the board ran Volkswagen aground? You can also tell us how PAN and the others stopped production.

I wonder how you did not take your time to read Amosun’s version of the story with clear understanding. Or do you prefer to be one sided? Amosun simply gave himself away as vindictive and pretentious.

If Utomi was not a victim of negative financial transaction, why did he complain and why did Amosun respond? Why did he not single out Gbenga Daniels? Utomi talked about his interest there and how it went wrong with Amosun. Once again read Amosun’s comment about the entire Igbesa issue and find that he carelessly admitted his vindictiveness against Gbenga Daniels. That’s the same person who because of politics, labeled Gbenga Daniels an Isoko man from Delta state.

I am not holding brief for Utomi, but perhaps you holding brief for Amosun.

The only issue that matters to me is the case between Utomi and Amosun. No more no less. Utomi stated his case, Amosun rebutted. Case closed. You can call me armchair whatever, I am not egoistic like Utomi. In Nigeria, we are too quick to call someone an expert even in the field that the person did not have any knowledge of. I don’t know either of them to hold brief for either one,

Any other discussion on Amosun, Daniel, the Chinese company, is irrelevant to me. I don’t have any regard for the dishonorable Honorables that worshipped whites and are been used to siphon money from our collective commonwealth as long as they get their percentage.

Agree with you on the above.

Disagreed with you on the words “armchair professor”.

The interchange between Utomi and Amosun is there for public interest. Still, read Amosun’s response when the matter came up and you”ll question why a governor would say that he made an signing off a contract of that value. You’d wonder if he would have been nonchalant if the money belonged to him. You’d also wonder if no bribe was exchanged.
