Sanwo-Olu Congratulates South West On Isese Day by Lanrelagboi(op): 1:19pm On Aug 20, 2024
The Chairman of the South West Governors Forum and Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated Yoruba on Isese Day being celebrated across the six South West states today, August 20.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, praised the people of the South West, particularly traditional rulers and traditional religious worshippers, for sustaining and preserving the cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.

The Governor said although the world has become a global village, with an attendant result in multiculturalism, the Yoruba people have unique culture and traditions that must be preserved for the future generations.

He commended all the traditional rulers and people of the South-West for upholding these cultural and traditional virtues of the Yoruba race.

He however charged them to use the occasion of today’s celebrations to remind themselves of the importance of the Yoruba “Omoluabi” ethos, which include tolerance, hospitality, peaceful coexistence among ourselves, different religious groups and our neighbours, noting that these must continue to be the hallmark of the Yoruba people.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, who declared a public holiday in Lagos State to commemorate Isese Day, also praised his colleagues for declaring today a public holiday in their respective states for the celebration of Isese Day.

Well
As for me ooo

The Traditions have only done more harm than good.

It still remains the reason for backwardness in SW and other zones that still practise all the nonsense till date.

For any one thinking of any nonsense comment
When your forefathers (that you are celebrating their traditions today) were bowing down to carved furnitures, trees and stones and water bodies, some people's forefathers were busy inventing things that led to the phone you are about to use to reply rubbish,The cloth you are wearing, your means of transportation any day, etc

So
Let's have it 🙄

Congratulations to all Omo Odua.

We must be the guardians of our heritage, history, and land.

I'm always proud to be a son of Yoruba land. I instill this pride in my kids no matter where they are. - Be proud of your heritage, history, and parents' origin.
If you don't know where you are from, you will not know where you're going.

How is that Nnamdi's business. If two men set out from Lagos, one to Ghana and the other to Anambra. The man going to Ghana would have reached Accra before the other gets to Onitsha.

The yorubas are gr8 people, I thank my Creator. Just watch in few years as this will soon turned to Southwestern Nigerians yearly events with internal representation leading to massive investment in the region. The 6 states might later adjust their calendars to celebrate same day all the isese in each states simultaneously like osun osogbo, ojude oba, OYO masquerades festival, and all others.

You don’t need to show pictures of white people in Brazil observing your traditional religion in order to feel proud of it.
