A country where the DSS can locate anybody that post tweets on X criticizing the government but throw a blind eye to Fulani terrorists and bandits openly flaunting ransom money and doing give away on Tiktok, yet walk freely.

One rule for Fulani criminals and another rule for the others, especially Southerners.Turji Bello, the bandit leader is walking free as we speak. Incidences like these will continue in such an unjust society.

But the difference between kidnapped people, and government dissidents is that it is easy to catch government dissidents. They live in urban areas, are not armed, and don't have a large group of armed people surrounding their house....nor do they have access to instruments of terror.

Kidnappers on the other hand are heavily armed, live in remote rural areas, sometimes in very remote areas (one mediation team who went to meet some kidnappers had to travel a very long distance into the bush by bike, as there was no car) and if the DSS and army approach them armed to catch them, they can kill their kidnap victims, and then turn and face the Law...and die doing so.

Over ten years ago, DSS traced a kidnapeed expat to a house in Sokoto. They took every precaution, even moved in quietly, but as soon as the kidnappers saw the first sign of armed intervention, they brought out their victim, killed him, and then faced the DSS squad. Of course they died.

There have even been reports of kidnappers using their victims as human shields.

Now we can do as the RUssians do and rescue them anyway, but some of the victims will die, and people will blame government ...not the kidnappers. (and government is to blame really, no issue)...and since governments are made of politicans who want to win elections,.....

that's why they 'negotiate'

(This is not to excuse any government, just telling ya reality. And if you must know, I think that government should go in and kill off the kidnappers. Even if some victims die, any assh^le wanting to replicate kidnapping would think again. I'm not fond of Putin, but he had the right idea at Beslan and at the Moscow theater incidents).

I quite understand your point about these kidnappers living in deep forests and all, but all still boils down to failure of government. Successive governments do not have the political will to stop these nonsense, especially since the past Buhari-led government. I could remember the opposition of prominent Fulani politicians and leaders when Amotekun was being set up to deal with these criminals in the forest killing farmers and kidnapping people in the South West.

That there is such a vast area of ungovernable spaces in the country, especially up North is an admittance of failure on the Nigerian government at state and federal level, and an indictment on them. Nigerian politicians really disgust me. They're the most selfish, wicked and heartless set of people to walk the surface of the earth.
