Both of them are good. Trust me. The little difference in their style of playing is what is keeping Martinelli on the starting lineup not because he is better.

Remember when Nelson was coming from bench and scoring? When he was given a starting chance what did he do?

Remember when Martinelli was coming from bench too? He started scoring also.

It's just tactical.
No now 🤦‍♂️

Saka and Nelson are two different players that do not relate with this situation at hand. Saka is 100% clear of Nelson; everyone knows Saka and Nelson are not equals irrespective of Nelson getting clutch goals .

On the other hand, you yourself had confirmed Trossard and Martinelli are two equally good players in their own right. Now what we are saying is Martinelli’s form is below par and we have a Trossard his equal that keeps getting the job done but languishing on the bench . Something has to give .

If Arteta continues to claim an out-of-form Martinelli on the pitch is the tactical requirement he needs to see this season through; I won’t be surprised to see Trossard dumping us for another big team by the next transfer window

If form is your issue then I have no arguments with that. However I stand on my tactical reason.

Please note that I didn't mention Saka at all especially in connection to Nelson. I mentioned Nelson because of last two seasons when he was coming from bench to score. Let's be honest, it's easier to score coming from the bench.

Nelson is closer to Trossard than to Martinelli. He is more useful when we dominate the opposition box and searching for a late goal. Apart from that he is not reliable in open play and transitions.

It is easier to score coming from the bench than when starting.

It's more come from the bench and score within the last 10mins, than to score within the first 10mins.

The obvious reasons are because opposition defenses are down physically and mentally. They are out of ideas and are more prone to poor decision making-; wrong position, poor alertness, slow thinking and loss of concentration.

In the Euros, Fulkrug will come from bench and score for Germany, but Havertz was always preferable to start.

The same thing with Garnacho or MC Tominay for United.

That doesn't mean whoever starts cannot do the same things. Or who comes from bench is not good enough. It's just tactical.

Nelson is not closer to Trossard than Martinelli one bit. Take a look at the attached stats screenshot for all 3 players; let’s focus on 2023/24 which was our best season in years

Frame 1 is Nelson’s

Frame 2 is Trossard’s

Frame 3 is Martinelli’s

You don’t need a seer to tell u that Trossard’s place is on the pitch and not on the bench.

I already told u the tactical reason excuse does not fly cos Trossard does practically everything Martinelli does (and better sef)

First of all, if you want to compare style of play you should use heat maps not stats.

Secondly, take a look at Trossard 21/22 his best season for Brighton and 23/24 his best season for Arsenal. He scored more goals coming from the bench 16 out of 34 than when he started in 32 games. Tells the whole story.

If this were to be true, then why is the highest goal scorer not filled with names of substitute attackers for each time ? 😒

lolz .😂

U expect him to score more goals for Brighton than he scores for Arsenal ? Are u for real ? Is it not a sign that a player is a flop if he can’t score more goals for a higher quality team ?

Players with the highest goals per minutes ratio are majorly subs.

No. But he started 32 games and scored 8 times for Brighton unlike when he started just 18 games and scored 12 times for Arsenal. Nite that mistbof those 12 were from the bench. Nit when he started.

U bold-faced said it is easier to score from the bench na. Why are they not topping the highest goal scorer chat since any striker coming from bench can score truck load of goals within 10 minutes na ? 😂

A player who is not as good can come from bench and score but when he starts he wouldn't cope again. This is common na.

Where I am going is that, Martinelli could have equally come from the bench and score twice against Villa. Both he and Trossard are good. But one is better starting and the other from bench.

The only reason why he scored 8 goals in 32 matches for Brighton was because Brighton is Brighton.

Let him start 32 game for Arsenal and let’s see if it’s just 8 goals he will score if I will not label him as fraud.

The fact that he could score 12 goals while starting only 18 for Arsenal shows he can do exceeding greater exploits if he gets a starting place in the team. The current person filling that role is misfiring and stinking up the pitch ; let’s give change a chance abeg.

Let martinelli come from bench first before u start postulating theories . He has started more matches and we’ve seen the result .

Let Trossard get his chance and let us see what he does with it. There’s no need defending Arteta when he has not given Trossard that chance and he bungled it

Martinelli and Trossard have their similarities but they are different types of wingers.

Martinelli is better with transition. Ball to feet, take a man 1v1, create chances etc, run down the flanks- typical winger. Trossard on the other hand is more of a space merchant, ball to space, positioning, goal target.

When Arteta starts Trossard he starts him as a CF/ false 9. Or where the team gets to dominate a box. That's because Trossard is good at positioning but not as good as Martinelli for transitions.

However, if you want a late surge or a tactical attacking manuveur, he is your best bet.

That said, if we should swap their roles and Martinelli begins to play from bench, you will realise that he is as good as Trossard in finishing off games.

What Arteta does between Martinelli and Trossard is purely tactical and has nothing to do with who is better. Same as between Raya and Ramsdale.
All these ones you're doing is just postulations and theories without saying what is happening on ground.

Space merchant — Martinelli (and not Trossard like you said)

One on ones— Trossard ( when last have Martinelli beat his man)

Create chances — Trossard

Nothing is purely tactical. The only reason why Arteta is giving Martinelli benefit of doubt is because he's our first choice player and he knew there might still be a player there. But like I said, it's waning as we can see Martinelli early sub(something that isn't happening frequently)

If you know who Arteta be in terms of attention to defensive play, you will change your comment. Lol
This your comment would have been valid if Arteta didn't bench Martinelli ass for Trossard towards the end of last season when we were looking for all possible 3 points.

If Martinelli still continue this his nonsense, sooner rather than later, he'll be benched for Trossard.

Make him continue to dey bank on defensive awareness and tracking back while neglecting other aspects of his play. Lol

Lol, how many goals our Nketiah don score doing the bolded. Nelson or Jesus recently nko?

The only person in all our squad that we can bank on doing such is Trossard and see you underrating it and calling it easy. Lol.

Emery is a tactical coach.

He said they did all in their best to avoid arsenal having set-pieces including corner kicks and free-kick knowing we score loads of goals from that.

He actually took notes.

All that one na shalaye o. Man City no need that one to be an excuse for them.

2nd, 5th, 10th 60th 70th mins, City go score anytime and it won't be a situationship. Fully alert or fatigued, we ought to be getting them from bench or not. I just pray Arteta makes his subs earlier than last season.

We need that Left wing to thrive in such a way that managers stop doubling up on Saka.

A more experienced coach would have benched Nelli by now till he resets that wasteful part of his brain. I still hope we get deputies and that striker NOW. As wasteful as Martinelli is, his left footed crosses are the kind a lethal aerial 9 needs to punish any defense in the EPL. At least that one would make him look good despite his underwhelming performance. I can't imagine relying on Kai this season. He's not the physical monster we need upfront.
