120$ to 150$ for a 50kg bag of cement in Cameroon and Niger Republic? A Big Lie. No where in the world is cement so expensive.

In Europe it is + - 10€ per 50kg bag.

Smuggling is reason for high rise of goods price in Nigeria
Every country in Africa around us price of cement petrol food os higher than Nigeria rather than sell here smuggling is the honey to fast money
Customs and Nigerians doing it will blame government

With this prices and scarcity will continue to rise
.the high costs of fuel disel is the cause of the high costs of foodstuffs goods in Nigeria due to the removal of fuel subsidy...it's the high costs of transportating this foodstuffs goods to the market causing the high costs of foodstuffs goods in the market and inflation in Nigeria

If you believe that a bag of Cement is sold BTW $120 & $150 in the aforementioned countries, then sorry is your name.

Dem never tell una wetin dey happen.
Projects are going up everywhere and one of the projects gulping large amount of this resource is a 700km CONCRETE super highway that leads to Heaven.
In a country that has monopolized its vast market resources to one man.
I laugh in swahili
THERE IS NO PLACE IN THIS CONTINENT A BAG OF CEMENT IS SOLD ABOVE $20.
YOU PEOPLE SHOULD STOP THESE PROPAGANDA!
Very correct.

The astronomical rise in cement prices coincided with when the FG started insisting on using cement for road constrution.

I often wonder why the massive bitumen deposits in Delta and Ondo states cannot be developed and used for road constrution which would reduce the pressure on cement prices.

Same excuse for fuel subsidy removal! The government MUST face the borders and stop giving excuses... smuggling can be reduced if not totally eradicated...it's their duty to sensitize the people and protect the borders.

So cement in chad..... is 1600... where as in Nigeria that has the natural resources to produce is 8,000 naria..
...
The article says $1600. Not naira. So, that's about N250,000 per bag.

May be this $1600 is an error in the write up.

N250,000 ke? How are people building houses in those countries.

That price in Chad is big blatant lie. No investigation is needed for this one it is impossible for cement to be sold for 8k in Nigeria and over 100k across the border.
Re: Nigerians’ Hope For Lower Cement Price Dims by Max24: 8:23am On Aug 26, 2024
Thank God govt is not handing over the fuel industry into Dangotes hands otherwise same woulld be repeated there. Fuel price would shoot up and then the cartel would start telling us cock and bull stories as Dangote and other producers are spewing now. Never trust hard core capitalists. They don't care about the masses. To guarantee cheap fuel prices, govt must continue to import cheap fuel to counter the likelihood of Dangote forming a fuel cartel with other players to charge high prices
Re: Nigerians’ Hope For Lower Cement Price Dims by gigabyte13: 8:24am On Aug 26, 2024
Government no go do anything now, to curb cement smuggling now.
If l were a manufacturer, you can't compare #8k to #240k, l will be tempted to do same but
This is what we produced locally and the price can be regulated.
Curb cement smuggling
So that we won't suffer like we do in petroleum sector

So cement is about N250,000 per bag in some neighbouring countries? Wow.

Same with petrol. Even at N1,000 per litre, petrol here is still cheaper than neighbouring countries

It seems to me that the affordability challenges in Nigeria is not solely about price but about salaries and incomes being too low.

Over the last 20 years or so, Nigerian salaries have have not kept up with inflation.
That story about fuel price being cheapest in Nigeria is a half truth.

In US, the low average gas (PMS) price per gallon (that's 4 litres) is about $2.59. That is about N3,888 or about N971 per litre. That is to buy without stress.

In Nigeria today, the low average PMS price is N995 to buy without stress.

How can Nigeria be paying almost the same price of PMS with the US?

The political office holders keep manipulating things to favour themselves without caring for how it negatively affects the masses.

No be only dim, na Chidimma. Same way people looking for cheap petrol from Dangote hope go dim.
When Dangote's refinery will really start functioning in real time, fuel go reach 1500 to 2k
That guy no just feel the pain of the masses but to further enrich himself his investors (FGN)
Is it now that cement is 8k they realize they export our cement to Cameroon and other neighboring African countries, what of when the cement was 1,500 per bag, were dey exporting it then?
Just imagine saying they sell cement @150 to 270USD in neighboring country,so u are obviously looking at producing at the same rate which u can afford to sell @8k and eyeing/targeting the Cameroon markets or just turn the cement to 150usd in Nigeria.
Re: Nigerians’ Hope For Lower Cement Price Dims by DeLaRue: 8:30am On Aug 26, 2024
I have just done a quick research online, cement is currently cheaper in Nigeria than many Wesst African countries.

$6 per bag in Nigeria.
$8 per bag in Ghana.

More expensive in Cameroon too.

Poorly research or sponsored article. The price is btw $8-10 per 50 kg
Re: Nigerians’ Hope For Lower Cement Price Dims by Ifyz0001: 8:35am On Aug 26, 2024
Liers....there is no place in these neighboring countries that a 50kg bag of cement is sold for that amount you guys claim.

Dangote cement is even sold cheaper in neighboring countries than what he sells to us here in Nigeria due to competition with imported brands.

APC are just full of lies. PDP never lied to us this much.

May God punish APC and their leaders/thieves.

Stop building roads with cement, learn how Julius Berger built her road with naturally occuring asphalt.

How can you build a 700km.road with manufactured and processed cement and you expect the price of cement to not increase?

I'm tired of this country sincerely.

They should increase production, export to places smugglers take it to and sell lower than the smugglers.
Smuggling and duty payment are two different ways of dealings even though u are selling same product

But people don't know these realities ..

Well may God help us

The earlier the masses know that there is a deliberate and well orchestrated plan to keep the masses poor by the elites, in collaboration with our useless politicians, the better.

The government is not going to do anything to better the lots of its citizens.

They are trying to develop a system where the people depend on them for survival. That’s why they keep sharing palliatives upandan.
