Same thing happened to me last month, the customer did fake transfer of 94k I was asked to pay for it, I paid for it that Same day and I left there work for them.
They have been sending some people to me to beg me to resume back to work but I refused two others working for them have left also.

I'm sure nobody goes to work looking for how to throw money away. People make mistakes and bosses should be compassionate and flexible.

That sales girl didn't plan or wish lose the phone. it could have been a mistake or she was naive or something unexplained that even the boss can fall for same thing.

Yes and bosses must accept responsibility for unexpected happenings and mistakes from staffs just like he can make mistakes. They must be considerate aslongas it wasn't intentional.

Simple policy that Customers should know transfers will be confirmed before releasing goods... should be in place.

Cashier authorized release of goods after confirmation of funds...
That's the standard procedure.

You are talking about a structured business. These are sales shop, one man business. There no such things, their costs structure can't accommodate that. They won't hold her responsible if she is not accountable

And you think you are indispensable? By the time you stay in labour market for few months, your brain will reset. If you manage a business now, you'll understand what business owners are going through. A tipper transporting tiles from one site to another recently had small accident and I lost all the tiles. The pain no be here but life must go on. I blamed the driver but after a thorough investigation, I found out it wasn't his fault so I bore the loss all alone. If it had been his fault, God knows I wouldn't do that. I would have at least not pay him for the transport. If your employer had begged you to return, it's in your best interest to do so now because it shows you still have value in their eyes. If you go back there later on when they have replaced you, you will lose the little ovation you still enjoy now. Don't let self pride deny you your daily bread.

I have once lost money they told me to use and pay a worker. I know it was stolen but I owned the responsibility for not being careful, I accepted all the abuse metted on me because it was my fault the money got lost.

In Western countries, this happens all the time. If owners collected from every worker that was the target of theft, there would be few workers. This is why there are insurances on businesses, tax writeoffs and aggressive prosecution of thieves. The Nigerian system is not working, which in turn makes it difficult for owners and employees.
