The Shipping Agencies, Clearing and Forwarding Employers Association (SACFEA) has approved ₦200,000 as minimum monthly wage for workers in the maritime sector. The signing ceremony between SACFEA and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria was organised by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council with support of the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, after 20 years of struggle. During the document signing ceremony on Saturday 24 August 2024 in Lagos, the President of SACFEA, Mrs Boma Ayomide Alabi (SAN), noted that the new minimum conditions of service for workers in shipping would be the highest in any industry across Nigeria.
