Reactions have trailed the appearance of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, at the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria, pending her confirmation by the Senate.

Kekere-Ekun took the oath of office and signed the oath register on Friday, August 23.

The event was held at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja.

On Monday, August 26, X users posted a picture showing Seyi sitting comfortably at the event.

Seyi's presence sparked questions about what he was doing in a place where only cabinet members and top government functionaries were supposed to be.

Did his father not call him out last year? He's even looking like a disobedient son and his father looking like one who can't command the respect of his son.

There are children of heads of state who have towed this line previously. Mohammed Abacha was one too. So Seyi won't be the first and I suspect he won't be the last. The ridicule that comes with it won't end as well.

This is what happens when you live off your father's influence and affluence

You inevitably become a third leg of the wheel showing up where you're ordinarily not required

This would have been great if it was a private business but doing this in a tenured public office will always lead to ridicule while you're there and scorn when you're inevitably hooked off the office

Africans never learn. I suggest Tinubu should give him a portfolio even if it's personal assistant or private secretary because this ayojuran is looking really bad

P.S. I just read through the comments and I see I'm not alone in the suggestion to give him a portfolio. The optics may look bad but at least it's better than looking like a jobless loafer who intrudes ceaselessly into places he ordinarily shouldn't be.
