The chicken ain't worth 14K, especially since this is not a festive season.
When was the last time you bought a chicken? I guess you don't even know how much four to six weeks old broilers cost or a bag of broilers finisher.

Most sellers are just too greedy, they can fix any price they want and it is either you buy or leave it. The most painful part is that if you leave one place and go to another, the same treatment you will get, it is a union agreement embarassed. I'm even planning to buy some by September to rear for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, I have many people to give chicken to as gift, with the price these greedy sellers are doing now, it will be war in december cool
Please do. And come back here to update us about just the cost of the broilers and their feed till they reach four months old. You will realise that the cost you will arrive at won't be too different from those sellers prices. May be a profit of 2 or 3k per one.

Sorry, it was a typo grin grin I didn't double check grin grin, that was last year's price if I remember correctly Abi was it early this year undecided, the inflation's too much, I've forgotten what cost what at a particular timegrin grin
Very well noted sir. Sincerely, the inflation is much. The OP above was saying Farmers are greedy not knowing what's up. I wanted to go into the business of rearing broilers and layers for commercial purposes. As at the time I paid for the Poultry Farm I will use, I think that was in May, the price of Feed was 17k. This is August, I still have not reared any chick on the farm because of the amount Feed will gulp, especially for a business where one could lose all chicks due to a stampede or disease outbreak.

Asin ehn! The number of farms that have closed this year alone is alarming; the funny(sad) thing is the feed price increases anyhow and sometimes, on a weekly basis

Quite true. Only farmers who formulate their feed or have enough savings to stay in business can succeed at the moment.

It is that depression that you're projecting that will swallow you up if you don't change.
You will continue to reap all the seeds of wickedness that you've sown.
You will not escape it.

You made a VERY HUGE MISTAKE the day you decided to cross my path with your nonsense, and troll me with your NUMEROUS MONIKERS.
You're already paying for it and will continue to pay.

By the way, I can never be depressed because I know who I am, and whose I am.

Eyaa. If you were in Ibadan, I would have directed you to a place where you will buy such chicken for tops 4.5-5k ie a chicken at least 1.5 kg and above in weight.
Freshly slaughtered, processed and frozen. They process for whole sale.
