Russia said the West was playing with fire by considering allowing Ukraine to strike deep into Russia with Western missiles, and cautioned the United States on Tuesday that World War III would not be confined to Europe.

Ukraine attacked Russia’s western Kursk region on August 6 and has carved out a slice of territory in the biggest foreign attack on Russia since World War II. President Vladimir Putin said there would be a worthy response from Russia to the attack. Sergey Lavrov, who has served as Putin’s foreign minister for more than 20 years, said that the West was seeking to escalate the Ukraine war and was “asking for trouble” by considering Ukrainian requests to loosen curbs on using foreign-supplied weapons. Since invading Ukraine in 2022, Putin has repeatedly warned of the risk of a much broader war involving the world’s biggest nuclear powers, though he has said Russia does not want a conflict with the US-led Nato alliance.

“We are now confirming once again that playing with fire – and they are like small children playing with matches – is a very dangerous thing for grown-up uncles and aunts who are entrusted with nuclear weapons in one or another Western country,” Lavrov told reporters in Moscow. “Americans unequivocally associate conversations about [a] Third World War as something that, God forbid, if it happens, will affect Europe exclusively,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov added that Russia was “clarifying” its nuclear doctrine.
Russia’s 2020 nuclear doctrine sets out when its president would consider using a nuclear weapon: broadly as a response to an attack using nuclear or other weapons of mass destruction or conventional weapons “when the very existence of the state is put under threat”.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the West of playing with fire by considering allowing Ukraine to strike deep into Russia, stating a potential World War III would not be confined to Europe.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said earlier this month that the assault on Russia’s Kursk region showed that Kremlin threats of retaliation were a bluff. Zelensky said Ukraine, because of the restrictions imposed by allies, could not use the weapons at its disposal to hit some Russian military targets. He urged allies to be bolder in their decisions about how to help Kyiv in the war.

Russia has said that Western weaponry, including British tanks and US rocket systems, have been used by Ukraine in Kursk. Kyiv has confirmed using US HIMARS missiles to take out bridges in Kursk. Washington says it was not informed about Ukraine’s plans ahead of the surprise incursion into Kursk. The United States has also said it did not take any part in the operation. Putin’s foreign intelligence chief, Sergei Naryshkin, said on Tuesday that Moscow did not believe Western assertions that it had nothing to do with the Kursk attack. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said the involvement of the United States was “an obvious fact”.

The New York Times reported that the United States and Britain provided Ukraine with satellite imagery and other information about the Kursk region in the days after the Ukrainian attack. The Times said that the intelligence was aimed at helping Ukraine keep better track of Russian reinforcements.

Russia's always whinging about a war they started! Threatening World War 3 and nuclear arms like they wouldn't get obliterated the moment they tried it. Putin's still sore about Ukraine's army taking control of parts of the Kursk region, but they just can't accept it. Russia's weak, full stop.

They're now like crybabies running to the media. They've been striking Ukraine with Iranian drones nonstop, but now that they're getting a taste of their own medicine, they're trying to spin the narrative. Just get out of Ukraine, simple as. Slava Ukraine 🇺🇦!

Most of these former colonies from the Indian subcontinent to Africa are now more anti west than neutral, leaving the west to their own fighters who are more interested in their gender identity.

Every efforts he has made have backfired on him. When he annexed Crimea in 2014 and felt he could just bully Ukraine with the invasion to create fear on other neibouring nations but unfortunately, he ended up having himself surrounded by NATO his biggest nightmare.

Normally, countries such as Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Sweden etc who have remained neutral abinitio were forced to join NATO having seen Putin's stup!d!ty.

I hope he is not relying on China and India to be on his side if he starts the 3rd world war that might move his colony to obscurity.

You're not making any sense. History has shown time and again that nations rally behind the US and its allies when there's trouble, and this trend is set to continue. Many nations in the Indian subcontinent and Africa have strong diplomatic and economic ties with Western nations, so it's highly unlikely they'll switch allegiances overnight.

And do try to get a grip, gender identity has no bearing on the US's military strategy. It's not all about machismo, you know. Take Africa, for example, all that bravado, masculinity, gender correctness and posturing, but not exactly setting the world alight in terms of military prowess, are they? 😂

The fact is, the US has never gone solo, from Normandy to Afghanistan, they've had the UK, Canada, Australia, and other NATO buddies fighting alongside them. And that's not going to change, no matter what future threats emerge.
And by the way, have you heard of the AUKUS? New alliances are being forged all the time, so try to keep up. Stop saying whatever comes into your head, rather try come up with something reasonable.
