There was a Chief of Army Staff from the South East that did quite well against terrorists then. I can't remember his name. Certain elements from the North wanted him removed.

The current President wanted to avoid all that palaver by putting virtually all the key defence offices in Northern hands, yet no improvement.

He is not being sincere.. insurgency started way before PBAT assumed office in 2023.. as far back as OBJ's tenure. The thing got worse when GEJ a Southerner took power after late President Yar'adua's death.

This one is trying to be clever by half. More than half of all security and defence positions in Nigeria currently is manned by Yorubas. Stop lying unnecessarily

You're deceiving yourself. List the security positions occupied by Yorubas.

The positions I listed in my previous comments are the most important in the country's security architecture.

Even if the Chief of Defense Staff is Yoruba, and I don't know if he is, he is not as central in the day to day strategic fight against insecurity as the Chief of Army Staff, NIA, and the NSA.

I am not sure the guy said it started with this President. But it has continued under him, like the other Presidents.

Just wait until it is about a year to the next election. Then you will see the whole thing escalate to a new level.

That was what happened to Mr Jonathan.

Yet, in the lead up to Mr Buhari 2nd term election, insecurity appeared to reduce considerably.

This tells me that some (not all) of the insecurity in that part of Nigeria is politically sponsored.

One thing I however acknowledge as true in the soldier's video is that the act based on orders.. The Military won't engage armed bandits if they don't have orders from their top hierachy to do so. The thing now is for the C-in-C to issue that marching order to the Military that supersedes all others.

A Nigerian soldier of Northern extraction have accused the Tinubu led federal government of funding bandits and terrorism in Northern Nigeria

I salute the general public. Today in Nigeria bandits are making videos in the bushes and posting them on different social media platforms with guns.
They decide who they want to abduct and who they want to set free. They demand for any amount of money they want and it's the government that is funding them.
Stop blaming Nigerian soldiers because our job is based on orders.

If there's peace in Nigeria the leaders will not make the money they are making when there's unrest. How big is the forest of Zamfara that we can not dislodge the bandits there? We the soldiers are just seating idly and watching the bandits kill people in Zamfara because we have not been given the order to confront them .
As a soldier, you dare not go to the forest and engage the bandits unless you are given the order no matter how pained you are, you can not untill you are given a direct order.
The government knows that if there's no crises and unrests in the country they won't make any money this is why they are sponsoring banditary and terrorism in Nigeria.
