Nigerians Paid ₦1.04bn Ransom To Kidnappers In One Year – SBM Intelligence by Ezziezzy(op): 8:55am On Aug 30, 2024
This is disturbing!

Nigerians paid N1.048 billion as ransom to kidnappers between July 2023 and June 2024, a report has shown.

The report, released yesterday by the SBM Intelligence, showed that 7,568 people were kidnapped across the country within the period.

SBM Intelligence is an Africa-focused market/security intel gathering consulting firm. Information from its website said it is Nigeria’s leading geopolitical research consultancy outfit, which is “particularly strong in the area of primary data gathering, and analyses of data that provides clarity relating to political, economic and social issues in Nigeria and West Africa”.

According to the report released yesterday by the firm, though abductors demanded N11 billion as ransom within the period, only N1.048bn was paid.

The report said the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded the highest ransom demands in the country, with Lagos and Kaduna closely trailing.

An analysis of geopolitical zones showed that the South East leads in both the amount of ransom paid and the rate of successful collections.

We payed ransome two days ago for the release of my dad's driver who was kidnapped at Lamkpese somewhere in Edo state. It's not funny, nowhere is safe anymore.

Honestly I'm not pleased with asiwaju's government.

The money goes to their sponsors who are highly placed politicians. Those kidnappers do not usually look like the billions they collect in ransom

Banditary, Kidnapping and Terrorism has become a big business in Nigeria... Many young idle youths are easily attracted to it because it seems to be paying well for them. By the time they starts executing them publicy and killing them and their useless sponsors like flies it will reduce drastically

Sighs sad

This is possible because of the failure of government to provide security for lives and property.

Quoted figure for this disclosed ransom payments is far less than the actual payment when ransom are even paid in dollars and cryptos.
Who accounted for the undisclosed ransom payments?

GDP from kidnapping industry. Not good at all.

Disclosing the numbers will be making kidnapping more lucrative as the kidnappers too will be making financial report on their performance management based on an annual and factional basis

Tinubu is master strategist.

The state governors are doing nothing. We should hold them responsible. After all, the security agencies are under their command.

Now to business

What if I call you IPOB or bitter EreluRoz?

What if I call you a wailer?

What if I blame Igbos?

What if I blame IPOB?

What if I say that you are yet to get over election loss?

What if I say, "why should your "driver" pass that route? That's if what you said is true.

What if I say that your driver and others should have travelled with their own security?

What if I blame the victims and not those who are supposed to secure lives and properties?

What if I rejoice because it didn't happen in my region?

What if I rejoice because it happened to you that supports evil or does not support my candidate?

What if I blame Peter Obi for what happened instead of the commander-in-chief of FRN?

What if I say that you are lying just to discredit our master strategist?

What if I say that security has improved in Tinubu's regime. Before bombs were going off during GEJ's regime.

What if I dish it back to you the way you guys do when people complain of the suffering and horror they pass through due to the maladministration of your god?

See bah,

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Kidnapping is a medium risk high reward venture as opposed to other crimes

The Anticipated cash out and the seemingly govt lackadaisical attitude in curbing it seems to make it a low dangling apple esp in a country with high unemployment and corruption rate

Calm down, Tinubu is handling the economy and Shettima is handling the security, according to you lots.

Tinubu is just spending a year out of 7 years and you are complaining.
