BlueRayDick:Fair enough. But I still believe sometimes we should learn all these dark arts, esp exploiting on player's careless. Most top teams use it and capitalize on it to win matches they would have ordinarily drawn or lost which I believe is not against the law esp when done smartly. |

BlueRayDick:You're ignoring the fact that Veltman threw the ball into Rice's path from behind him. You are also not accepting that the ref overreacted. And then that the ref wasn't consistent because twice in the same game Brighton players did similar things and were not cautioned. I will not like you to be my brother. You will blame me for every fight I get into. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 6:12pm On Sep 02, 2024 |
Spy360:Rice is a professional footballer, the rules are the rules. If u obstruct a free kick it is a yellow card; this is not about sentiments. You can fault the ref for not penalizing a Brighton player for similar offence but it doesn't take away the fact that Rice committed a bookable of fence. Rice did absolute nonsense with that singular act. It's not like Veltman will score directly into our goal post if Rice had allowed him play the free kick. The crazy thing in all of this is that Rice was even attempting a useless dribble before Veltman gained the ball which led to Rice fouling him resulting in the controversial free kick. |

BlueRayDick:And the ref is a professional ref. You can't apply a rule earlier which was clear and obvious but you can do so for a not clear but not too obvious. Pls play us another piano. If that's the case we don't need a ref then. I watched the video I was expecting a dissent or a ballooned ball. Na person wey don dey waka without looking they penalised . It's a millisecond rice saw the ball....no time to premeditate what he was to do., N.a. so handball go turn penalty? |

Lush100:If Rice had walked away from the free kick spot, all these shalayes won't be necessary. I'm sure u can't really explain what Rice was doing so close to their box 18 preventing Veltman (a defender) from playing a freekick that is of no consequence. |

BlueRayDick:It's normal for opponent players to stand to avoid quick start Everyone knows the ref was wrong to issue out second yellow |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 10:07pm On Sep 02, 2024 |
iamoyindamola:Something people get yellow card for is normal? Rice had it coming and that was it.

iamoyindamola:Rice showed immense lack of awareness and that is where I blame him. You are already on a yellow card and the ref has shown he is not being kind with us, why force the ref to make a decision? A player on a yellow card should be smart enough to recognize situations and avoid them. The FK was deep inside Brighton’s half, it did not pose any threat to us, he should have just ran back. It was stupid and put the team in a bad spot. He had no business delaying the restart of the game. Did I think it was harsh? Yes, I thought it was harsh as the ref could have had a verbal conversation with Rice considering he already had a yellow but again, Rice put himself in that situation. After he was kicked, he stayed in the floor rolling like he was killed only to stand after he realized the decision wasn’t going to go his way. My own gripe is that we never adapt to changes. If anything happens to plan A, it is over for us and this has been going on for too long. We go down one man, opponents change tactics, we suffer an injury…anything that goes away from the norm is a problem for this team and I hate it! |

BlueRayDick:I am not arguing this. But Rice was not the only person that committed that kind of foul in that game. If Rice was punished, shouldn't the ref be punished for lack of consistency? We shouldn't be only looking at Rice but also the ref |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 5:58am On Sep 03, 2024 |
Spy360:Go and read my post again. I already said u can fault the ref for his mistakes in other part of officiating that day, but he's not wrong sending Rice off. Rice asked for it and he got served. Simple! |

BlueRayDick:The discussion was on the consistency of the referee decision |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by iamoyindamola(m): 6:12am On Sep 03, 2024 |
Roland17:Exactly the ref should have called odegaard to warn rice I read the ref is notorious for dishing out unwarranted cards against arsenal He gave nketiah, ESR their first red even though they were 50/50 or soft He also complained to the fa about about celebration when we beat Bournemouth that year I feel the man just want to influence the game and truly rice gave him that If not veltman also kicked the ball away in same match and nothing was done I don't understand why they are giving these biased referees too much chance BlueRayDick: |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 6:31am On Sep 03, 2024 |
Spy360:My initial post u quoted was me addressing a fan who claimed not to have seen what Rice did wrong. Nothing concern me with ref consistency ; it's an external factor which we have no control over. The best we can do is for our players to be at their best behavior so that we won't be on the receiving end of decisions that we begin to question. |

Jodera:If Odegaard isn’t available, we could try playing Saka in that role why Sterling plays the right wing. It would be nice exploring that option. It’s also an opportunity to improve on Sakas quality. |

Fkforyou:Saka in midfield? No please. BTW, both Timber and Odegaard will be back for the Spurs game. We should be worried about Partey instead. I don't know why we just let him go just like that. |

Fkforyou:Well, it'll be nice exploring that option but it's Arteta that we're talking about. But anyways, Odegaard will be available |

BlueRayDick:Partey. I mean we should have discreetly stop him from going for international duty. I might be wrong but his injury issues usually surface after coming back from break. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 5:35pm On Sep 03, 2024 |
Jodera: ![]() I don't think the board are going to do away with him anytime soon. He should sha deliver. Fans are impatient right now. |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 5:39pm On Sep 03, 2024 |
Jodera:Allowing Partey to go for break is somehow scary. I just hope his minutes will be limited. Pep don do magic and Foden has withdrawn from England squad. According to Pep, he is 'sick'. Timber was substituted because of cramp last match and he arrived Netherlands camp with his brother today. Someone we have been monitoring since o. Hopefully, they all come back fit. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by mostob(m): 5:42pm On Sep 03, 2024 |
BlueRayDick:I know. I'm not disputing that but we can bring up a story at least. We can even dialogue with the Ghana FA. We already lost Merino and Rice to injury and suspension respectively. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 5:52pm On Sep 03, 2024 |
mostob:That's the hope and I know he and the players now know that's what is expected of them. For Arteta to say we need 114points to win league, he now knows that's the standard the boards are expecting of him and his players.. So we go deh watch. If we can combine the performance of First half of two seasons ago and the performance of the second half of last season, then I believe we win it. We've dropped two points now, so na only three points remain(for this first half of season) Na how personally I deh look am ![]() |

mostob:Hopefully they do oo. This int'l break I think it's for Nations and WC qualifiers. I doubt Ghana would have agreed to it. Na for dem Timber we for try raise story The hope is for all to come back fit and stronger Sha. We've not really clicked well this season, though we're strong defensively, I hope we click after the intl break |
