What do you mean by 25K ? A truck load of fuel is 45k Liters, that means less than one truck a day? that's not true. The current Dangote capacity is 2,500 trucks a day, multiply it by 45,000 = 112,500,000 liters, subtract 66,000,000 = 46,500,000 surplus daily. You can further verify this online. With Dangote Refinery alone Nigeria is self sufficient, beside, the 66m is NNPC figure, use in defrauding Nigeria with subsidy claims, our actual consumption is less than this.
Eriokanmi:
Unfortunately, every refinery has its production capacity and contrary to your first paragraph, Nigeria's local consumption is estimated at 66m liters daily while dangote's daily pms refining capacity is 25k liters. There's still a huge shortfall. We can't stop importing except those local refineries truly commence refining sooner than later.

So in essence, you know nothing

This analyst na Tinubu agent. As soon as I heard Dangote interfacing with the NNPCL and FEC led by Tinubu, I knew it was over. No wonder why they came up with the new price regime overnight. Dangote will have to share the proceeds with these guys and will also never be allowed to sell below NNPCL margins. Brace up for more inflation, guys.

did i not just calculate for you in naira....??...ask federal government to sell him the crude at 100 naira per liter
spiSeyi:
The crude is sold to him in Naira and he will sell to other countries in USD. Why shouldn't he sell back to Nigerians in Naira, if Dangote will sell to us using USD benchmark then the FG should sell to him in USD if he can't sell it to Nigerians using the Naira benchmark undecided

One would have thought that those saves from TFare and landing costs + import duties will reduce the cost of PMS at least.

You are correct. BUA cement guy refineries is coming up. Nigeria should be a center for refineries and supply finished product to Africa as export earnings in $. If Dangote successfully takes off, our 4 refineries would be sold to individual and they will compete also. Government has no business refining crude. Too much corruption in govt business.
Easier said than done. Except we have a government who has the people at heart. As long as the government wants to control the distribution of oil, we are in for a long thing. Bua will also be limited like dangote. If they like make them bring 100 private refinary. Nnpc and govt go control their distribution processes.

you have already said

SolomonGrandi:
You’re not well educated . Dangote that will soon be listed on stock exchanges? You funny o

You don’t understand Oil and Gas
from the conclusions you made, how then ar you now asking me to calculate anything?

its obvious you are an expert in oil and gas. if that be the case, the following is for you:

how does dangote being listed in the stock exchange negate the points I raised?

since you understand oil and gas, kindly negate the following points.

because that is what NNPC told them to shout. it was the voice Jacob but the hand of Esau.

while you guys were running after marketers and accusing them of sabotage, NNPC was busy using landing cost as an excuse to inflate subsidy cost and steal.

that is why NNPC initially refused to give dangote crude because Dangote will sell without the bogus landing cost and NNPCs scam will be exposed.

so NNPC made a deal with dangote. we will give you crude but we will be the only ones to buy your fuel.

with that arrangement, NNPC can now maintain the price of imported fuel for locally produced fuel so as to cover up its ass.

that is why a few hours before dangote announced he was ready to supply fuel, NNPC fixed the price of fuel at N897 in order for them to maintain the margin which they were stealing as a result of the phantom landing cost

When will Nigerians get out of the matrix?!!! When are we going to have sense.

Cant you all see that Dangote and the government are scamming you all. Same time they gave Dangote crude, same time they increased the recent price to 1000. Then Dangote will bring it back to 780. Everyone will now rejoice and say Dangote is the saviour…..lol

Think about this, in Buhari tenure they gave Dangote Billions and are part of his investment. How then can u now think they wont give him feedstock……..i just dey laugh Nigerians.

This is Tinubu and Lagos all over. The Ronu people keep praising him for Lagos but they forget t0 do the simple maths of revenue versus development. If it had added up, Lagos should have been like Dubai not the slum breeding ground for agberos we have today.

What is the present level of consumption of PMS....... 🤣😂
Nobody knows! 😆
The thing that encouraged that is subsidy. If fuel became surplus with subsidy only coming from crude supply to Dangote and others, anyone can go sell fuel outside Nigeria. Custom will be empowered to collect export tax on it. We just need to make sure we meet our crude export quotas from OPEC and also producing more for local consumption. Govt task is to increase crude production. We have the resources while curbing bunkering.

Some people will just open their nonsense mouth to say rubbish. When we talk about economist, who knows Kalu Aja. The only obstacle that will make dangote not to have a very reduced price, will be the FG, reason is that, if NNPLC sell at a reduced price of crude to dangote to refine, dangote will in turn sell the refined crude to the NNPLC through their retail outlet at a reasonable cost and it knows left for the president to fix a price and sell to the populace. That is the reason dangote said he his waiting for the government and one illiterate was saying did he waited for the government to fix his cement price. He forgot that in cement production, you will first of all identify a place with high deposits of limestone which is the major raw material and purchased the land with the deposit of limestone from the owners in the community and set up your factory. The only way government comes in is through the standard organization of Nigeria (SON) the regulating bodies to certify the cement standard. Taxes will be collected by the government.

I meant to say 25 million litrs. While our daily consumption is estimated at 66m ltrs daily. Dangote can't match that. If his refinery can only deliver 52m ltrs daily, there will definitely be a shortfall. Let's wait and see. Though the Dangote refinery is a way forward. We pray for more of such

no doubt, a private investment like dangote will be more efficient and productive, and Nigerian hope of betterment for common man is not limited to cheaper fuel but the ripple effect on our GDP and strengthen of Naira ... if only you can comprehend the impact of these two element you will recieve your sight undecided

I don't know the kind of indices we use in fixing prices, it reeks of corruption!
The landing cost of petrol if refined abroad is significantly different from when refined in Nigeria!

Dangote dassociated cost except his production cost! Dangote can sell at 200ngn if Nigeria and nnpc are sincere, what they need do is to buy and sell to marketers at subsidized rate. Dangote in his part should be given crude unhindered as stipulated by the law.

No believe all this one sided analyst... Cost of transportation is not a joke. You pay tax on it, insurance on it, multiply it by 2.
Also, we do not sell only the crude we use, so it's baseless to say it's a nets off the pressure on dollar because less dollars come in. What is the percentage of crude Dangote will need compared to crude we produce per day? Why is he silent on that?

So we should continue Malta abi? Issue is people who would loose revenue on in house production are pressuring the economics so they still get something for allowing in-house products.
Regardless of the above sef, a lot of corruption and sharp practices can be sure off by in-house
Re: Will Dangote Refinery Reduce Fuel Price, Save Dollar? - Kalu Aja by Taich(m): 8:39pm On Sep 04, 2024
StPete:
I disagree

Asides the transportation cost, there are also clearing costs at the ports and other fringe costs in offloading the products into NNPC from outside the country.

Moreso, the crude can be bought in Naira (not Dollar) thereby reducing the pressure of acquiring dollar for external trade between Marketers and the external Refineries who do not trade in Naira. Dangote refinery buys in Naira and also sells in Naira
Crude as of today can't be trade on Naira because production cost are already dollars, maintenance cost of refinery will definitely also be in dollars. So if Dangote collects naira from FG for sale of it product, Fangote will need $ for running his refinery, if FG sales crude to Dangote in Naira, FG will need $ to bring more crude from the ground. Dangote refinery is not the saviour, Nigerian will be paying over 1k official price of pms by December 2024.

You people never want to hear the truth. All you want is cheap petrol which is devastating the economy.

The Naira would probably be $1- N500 if the Buhari had deregulated the price in his first year in office.

The massive borrowing the government undertakes to finance the subsidy is very inflationary. And where you have high inflation, you automatically have currency depreciation.

Why has government reached this agreement with Dangote? It is simply because there is still a subsidy. There's no way Dangote can purchase crude oil at the market and still make a profit. A litre of crude oil sells for 720 per litre. I haven't added refining cost.

To those who say government should first build refineries before they remove subsidies can see it does not work. Dangote hasn't refined petrol because of the subsidy. The subsidy needs to go first by fully deregulating its price which will give investors the signal to build refineries.

I think there is an unspoken reason why the FG, through NNPC, has taken two steps recently as it concerns energy crisis.

One is making NNPCL LIMITED the sole buyer of petroleum products from DR.
Secondly, is the recent covert hike in the price of PMS.
I thought over this and came to the conclusion that, perhaps the FG is trying to withdraw subsidy payment on gasoline or at least reduce it to a sustainable level.
It has become imperatives to do this because, the FG can longer bear the burden of subsidy.
Coming to think of it, the landing cost of petrol currently is around N1200/L. Comparatively, DR. should ideally sell lower than this price after taking into the cognisance, the lower cost of production since its an indigenous company. I believe, in which ever perspective one decides to examine this, the truth is, the cost of production here is inveriably lower than it should be for foreign companies for a number of reasons;
One is the fact that, raw material are sourced in naira, the cost of shipment and duties on crude is already out of the way, and other related wavers.

Hence, in order to eliminate subsidy or at least reduce it to the minimum, the federal government had to prepare the market and the minds of the citizens by arbitrarily jacking up the price through NNPC to N897/L. At this rate, the price is almost close to or exactly what should be ideal for D.R product and there would be little or no need for subsidy expenditure.
This is what I think is the unspoken truth that FG has not been bold enough to tell Nigerians, since they have not been very open in their subsidy payment ab initio.
God bless you!!!

You are the only one that was able to put it all together in a sensible way without getting emotional. And you are spot on!

Dangote refinery can't bring down fuel price, instead it will increase it.

The federal government will now pay for more subsidy

You mean transfering it through the pipelines?
breezeng:
All these grammar is just to justify continuous price hike. Why not pump crude through the pipe to the refinery instead of shipping it for such a short distance within the same country. That is what is done in advance country.
