being an employers has its own risk
going by the two sides of the story, all i have to say is; I wish the both of them to let bye gone, be gone!

anyways, naso i employ an intelligent lady who ended up to convert daily sales to gamble.

My take; the employer knew the guy had some shortcomings and he tried to manage him, still yet he failed. Some of you calling for the head of the employer, that he shouldn't have employed him after seeing the red flags; i think he tried to give the poor lad an opportunity to make good for himself but he never did. Maybe once a thief, always a thief!

I've stopped getting triggered by almost anything I read in the Nigerian media these days because I have come to realize that Nigerians do not fact check before publishing. The lady who published this initial story is supposed to be a highly reputable person...really disappointing but I always had my doubts because even if a DPO may be foolish enough o charge someone for intentional insult, which Court won't throw this out?

The employer told three different stories, absolutely unrelated. How did you discover that the camera lens was stolen. The guy may not be innocent but the employer is also a bully
If you read the first story to the end, you'll know all the employer said here is response to what the guy said in the first story. There's no unrelated story here.

The lense I believe his response to when the employee responded to a question about the arrest was not his first time going to prison. He first when to prison when he was arrested for a stolen camera gear.

After hearing from both side, I don't think this employee is innocent. A thief will never admit they're thief.

Trying to make him look like a thief. That's what useless employers do. So, I how did you know the lense was stolen? Wicked man. He was pained he is resigned via text message. He would have preferred he sacked him instead.

If you thought he stole the lens, and person of dubious character, why go ahead to employ him?
And seeing the IOU inconsistencies, you drill didn't bar him of sack him.
Your story is not clear jare.

What's 20-50k compared to 10 months detention.
Why would you sack someone just because they appear incapable of managing their finances?

The fool came on d last day of my work with him nd alleged dat I hacked into his pharmacy CCTV nd watched him while he was smoking weed grin grin

Prior bfr my stay was extended, he had begged me the keep working with him, which I declined...He then decided to come up with the CCTV hacking blackmail... it was a lame nd funny allegation grin

I will limit my judgement to the employer's claim.

1.
How did the employer discover that the lense he bought from the employee was a stolen one?

2.
What has the employer done about the lense? Has he reported it to the police or has he located the owner? Or, is he an accomplice (a beneficiary of theft)?

3.
In fact, how is the story of the lense related to the arrest and the detention of the employee? Or, is the employer using that story to manipulate the public?

4.
As for the employee being a loan defaulter and thief, it may be true or false. I expect the employer to react to the allegations.
Hope you no be lawyer.

Where did the employer say he knew the lens was a stolen one?

Did anyone come to make case about the lens?

Narration of how the paths crossed.

You people don't read to understand. He was arrested because of the missing phone at work. His involvement with CCTV tampering made him a suspect, to which he later confessed to. How hard is that to understand?
The whole accusations and it's counter seem to be at equilibrium at the moment. But one thing is obvious, the employee is of
a questionable character and this is a huge NO. It sucks when people can't trust you or give you a tiny benefit of a doubt.

The guy is a good photographer and the boss doesn't want to lose him. It's desperation and bullying that led him to persecute and prosecute the photographer qed.

This is why it is always good to listen to both sides of a story. Even from the boy's story it was already obvious that he's a person of dubious character.
But I'm not surprised that a lot of people here are defending him, it's a reflection of their own character as well.

1.
How did the employer discover that the lense he bought from the employee was a stolen one?
His intuition! When the employee was not able to provide documentary evidence or than the lens belonging to his friend. This format is often used for stolen items.

2.
What has the employer done about the lense? Has he reported it to the police or has he located the owner? Or, is he an accomplice (a beneficiary of theft)?
Its is not the job of the employer to report himself to the police when he has no direct evidence to back his intuition or six sense. To be on a safer side of the law, he made the photographer to sign an acknowledgement of item sold to the employer!

3.
In fact, how is the story of the lense related to the arrest and the detention of the employee? Or, is the employer using that story to manipulate the public?
Of course it related because it the preamble of how he came to know the photographer.....

Oluwole said Nicholas came to his office to sell a camera lens, which he later discovered to be allegedly stolen.
He told the publication: "When he came to my office to sell the camera lens, I asked about its owner. He claimed that it belonged to his friend, and I put him on the spot to confirm. I made him sign that he sold it to me. I then told him how much I needed a good photographer and photo editor and he showed interest. I put him on a series of photography tests, which he passed outstandingly.

As an employer, you discover that someone stole a lens and you still employ him. Even if you discover that after employing him, why did you wait until the guy resigned from your job.
Oga, you are an accomplice in this case of theft

Nicholas admitted to the interviewer he was a jailbird. Trying giving a second chance may not be a nice thing to do after noticing his flaws
Agreed to stealing it,cux of order from the ex boss, telling police to torture him till he agrees to stealing it. We know how these unfortunate so called bosses, or rich people uses police as tool to purnish the less privileged. From all the ex boss wrote up there, himself no clean..

See idiots defending a thief that preferred to stay in prison for 10 months than call his Ex Soldier father to come to his aid.
He is not even on talking terms with his family. Nobody saw him for 10 months and they didn't call his phone. He said they thought he travelled. To where precisely? Definitely, because he is a Judas to that family.
He probably didn't want his family to know he has gone to jail again after commiting a crime.
Which kind of character is that?
Can anyone bully an Ex Soldier's son with ordinary Police?

He disconected the CCTV cameras and stole the conpany phone.
The contacts of the company clienst are on that phone, he didnt just steal the company phone he also stole part of the company data base.

Some of you just uneducated graduates….
The problem with this country is not unavailability of jobs, its that uneducated graduates like you what to have jobs meant for educated folks

The employer bought the lens, later discovered stolen from his friend. His friend invited the Police, the guy admitted and was detained. He was jailed for it, later he said case was settled amicably with the friend, then he was released.
He was caught switching on and off the camera by the CCTV.

His story doesn't add up, any fool can see he's just deflecting, I see no correlation between the lens and whatever he's been incarcerated for, just a disgruntled employer trying to oppress an employee, I say this because back then when I was working for someone, he really used me to the point my self esteem dropped drastically, from the verbal abuse to the mind games to the threats, untop one paltry sum he call salary which he withholds when he feels I misbehaved, this can range from not arriving somewhere in time, not doing what he says immediately he says it, and the worst crime of all is he made me do the work of two people for one pay for months, he keeps promising he will hire someone else soon but he never did, I was the cashier, I was the secretary I was everything, when he should have hired different people for different positions he leveraged my hardworking nature to do what he likes and at the end he will still withhold my salary, working for someone in Nigeria is the perfect definition of slavery, he almost accused me of stealing when I quit as well but I was vindicated before he could even start, that was the first and last time I worked for any idiot, I've been my own boss ever since, earning online and living anyhow I want, rubbish.
Pls how can i earn online tok

Anyway, Since he's been released and he and his former employer are settling things out, then it's okay. cool
He went to jail for the stolen lens which belonged to a friend.
CCTV caught him switching on and off the camera the day he stole the phone and that's was the last time he came.
He preferred to stay in prison for 10 months than call his Ex Soldier father to come to his aid. That speaks volume.

You all need to see this guys story to be nothing but comic, you claim a thief sold you a stolen lens and gave him an appointment and he stope from you and you are still trying to justify your actions.

We all need to separate sentiments and emotions when judging a case like this if police are to function the way it was suppose he's an accomplice in the case and needs to be arrested also.
