Democracy does start and end at the election booth, but at the stage when a candidate is selected by a political party and the conduct of a political party to select a competent candidate.

It might be undemocratic, but if the potential candidate is flawed and limited, then undemocratic decisions are necessary. Had Nigerians stopped the transfer of power to the incompetent Buhari and Tinubu (APC), then the country would not be in freefall today. It was obvious that Buhari was incompetent, and Tinubu was a known criminal and a hopeless case.

Olu Akpata has shown himself capable of getting good governance going in Edo State having successfully run the NBA. It's up to the people to use their sense of judgment smartly and vote for Olu Akpata. Of the lot contesting he is the only one not saddled with political baggage of godfathers and the likes.

I passed through their federal major roads in a luxurious bus.....from onitsha heading to Kaduna.
Imagine the large pot holes and bad roads made us to stay for good 2 days in Edo before we headed to auchi.
What is Edo govt doing knowing fully well that hundreds of trucks nationwide pass through their roads( interstate) biz's?
I just can't take it...imagine I passed inside that state in our bus heading to Anambra in rainy season. We used 3 hrs driving in Edo... It was a bad experience that our luxurious bus( Gibson) 2 tires bursted. Due to large pot holes

What is your govt doing? What has your past overhyped governor's done( Adams oshiomole, obaseki, done to mitigate these problems?

Once hailed for his successful career, Daniel Mthimkhulu was head of engineering at the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) for five years - earning an annual salary of about 2.8m rand ($156,000; £119,000).

On his CV, the 49-year-old claimed to have had several mechanical engineering qualifications, including a degree from South Africa’s respected Witwatersrand University as well as a doctorate from a German university.

However, the court in Johannesburg heard that he had only completed his high-school education.

He was also at the forefront of a 600m rand deal to buy dozens of new trains from Spain, but they could not be used in South Africa as they were too high.

“The court took into account the seriousness and prevalence of fraud, the significant financial loss to Prasa and Mthimkhulu’s betrayal of his employer’s trust," Ms Mjonondwane said.
