Growing up, this had a significant impact on me. People often assumed I was Yoruba because I had assimilated into Yoruba culture from a young age, spending most of my time with Yoruba friends and their families. Now, approaching 30, the majority of the music on my phone is by core Yoruba artists. When my dad sent me to my home state for university, my Igbo coursemates and friends initially thought I was Yoruba until they got to know me better and realized neither of my parents are Yoruba. It creates a challenging situation because when I’m with either tribe and they speak negatively about the other tribe, my perspective is usually different, and expressing it can make me seem untrustworthy. Despite this, it’s a great feeling to be able to speak and understand both languages well, and to blend in seamlessly no matter where I am.

Clowns! In an increasingly complex world where people learn skills and languages to become sophisticated, some people are more interested in showing a sense of control by imposing a language on their enclave.

Someone should help me tell them that there are more private schools than public schools in Lagos and most Igbos and foreigners attend good private schools. Yoruba migrants from Osun, oyo etc are the ones who attend public schools the most. You can teach them your Yoruba language all you want but remember it'll end up making them unexposed while the Igbos who attend private schools will become enlightened because of their exposure to people of different backgrounds and languages. You are creating apartheid against yourselves.

One of the best ways to take over another persons land is to learn have that one thing that binds them together and that one thing is language, that way they won't be able to hide anything anymore..... facts check every conquest starts from the inside through someone who knows the land.....it has been written that an Igbo blood will rule that Lagos and every other land in the SW.
