The 🇺🇸 White House bluntly told Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday to "stop" talking about the upcoming US presidential election, hours after he said he was supporting Vice President Kamala Harris.

The White House called on 🇷🇺 Russian President Vladimir Putin to “stop interfering” in US elections after he wryly said he backs Kamala Harris and not Donald Trump, who has voiced admiration for him.

"Putin ought to stop talking about our elections, period. He shouldn't be favoring anybody one way or another," National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters.

"The only people who should get to determine who the next president of the United States is, is the American people, and we would greatly appreciate it if Mr. Putin would A: stop talking about our election, and B: stop interfering in it," he added.

Speaking at an economic forum in Russia, Putin reportedly said with a smile: "I said that our 'favorite,' if I may say so, was the incumbent President Mr. Biden. He was removed from the race, but he recommended that all his supporters support Ms. Harris. So, we will do the same, we will support her."

Putin's apparent endorsement of Harris came hours after the Justice Department announced charges Wednesday against Russian nationals Kostiantyn Kalashnikov, 31, and Elena Afanasyeva, 27, for conspiracy to violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

The charges are centered around allegations that the two employees of Russian state broadcaster RT funneled $10 million to online influencers who then created content favorable to the Kremlin's narratives.

US intelligence agencies have warned that in several recent presidential and congressional elections, Russia was trying to influence their outcome.

I hope Vladimir Putin has mentored a despot like him to take over the reigns of affairs when he's no more because he won't live forever.

The problem with having leaders like Putin is that they are almost always irreplaceable - as he inspires hope, firmness, courage, fears, etc.

BTW, if the opinion of a Russian will determine who Americans vote for, then America is in trouble.

Africans somehow love their dictators. I have seen people extolling the likes of Abacha, Ghadaffi and Mobutu. Now, it is Putin, someone who doesn't respect the territorial integrity of other sovereign states.

The blatant hypocrisy too many don't see. How can younclwimnto be champions of free speech and officially declare that one should not be voicing his choice of a Presidential candidate? Does the same apply to celebrities who are endorsing candidates all over the media? To pick and choose who can and cannot say the same thing is discrimination. Is discrimination a value of democracy? He should be ashamed of himself and should be apologizing as well as withdrawing that statement.

Does USA respect the territorial integrity of other nations ? You should know that the definition of "dictator" is not "being an enemy of the USA". Vladimir Putin just won an election for crying out loud and your guy in Ukraine cancelled presidential elections and remains president beyond his term. The leader of the UK doesn't get elected, nor does the leader of Saudi Arabia who put his family name into the name of the country by the way.

One question: are palestinians entitled to any right at all in the eyes of your "America owns the world" club ?
