BDCs or banks are not the problem, the major pro is insufficient forex. central bank does not even have enough for the nation. so if you scrap the banks or BDC the problem is still there.
the major question we should be asking ourselves, asking CBN and tinubu is why it is that we don't have enough FX.
2 major reasons account for this , one is the massive oil bunker ring which according to analysts amounts to 90% of our crude being stolen daily and the second one is fuel importation.

Half of the BDCs are probably owned by politicians... The largest beneficiaries of CBN dollar subsidy in Nigeria are Northern politicians/BDCs and Saudi-bound Muslim pilgrims, yet we wonder why the economy is the way it is.

Before Emilokan wasted about N100B on Hajj tourism, Emefiele was splashing out dollars to BDCs and Hajj Pilgrims at ridiculously cheap rates, most of which went into the Saudi economy.

Nigeria is not a serious country so I wonder what people expect when we see the result of reckless policies and expenditure that have 0 economic benefit.

The only thing remaining is politicians coming after your life. They have literally hijacked everything in this country.

It’s so painful that this country keeps doing this same mistake over and over again, why do you need to give dollar to BDC, anyone who needs dollars or any other foreign currency should go into their banks fill the form for the amount you need to use for either business, school fees etc as long as they have naira equivalent in the naira account, the bank helps run the FX so there is no foreign money in the land, case closed

True that.

I was among those championing the fixing of the country but at this point, except for some divine intervention i don't see nigeria getting any better. Infact,it can only get worse from here.

Folks, try as much as you can to secure resident for a good country overseas. At least,a bad situation there is still better compared to a bad situation here.

You can be assisting with your one leg in and the other out.

After blaming abokifx and BDC operators, I wonder who is next to blame for the downward slide of naira?
Let me guess. They will blame Nigerians for adopting naira as their currency grin

The sale of dollars to the BDC's must end as the Naira has been floated(Correct me if I am wrong).

Why not use interest rates instead?

A government that knows what it is doing would have long fired the senior management team of both CBN and NNPC.

If CBN can peg or control the naira. . there is hope. Concurrently, enhance agriculture, trade in naira with local refinery, and engage more mineral exploration. There is hope.

If naira is destroyed via immature floating, Nigeria's economy will be utterly collapsed.

Work on naira value. That is the core.

Full subsidy removal can be achieved if naira valuation can be managed properly.

Don't allow the naira to get worse than this, Nigeria will not survive it's economic impact.

If anyone has the ears of Mr Cardoso, tell him now is the time to crash the fx rate.

It’s inane to get excess of 20k for 10 pounds.

The inflation will ensure lower demand for the USD, and increase foreign remittances.

Eg. A man’s kids abroad send him money for medications and upkeep. He needs NGN 200k (100 GBP) to get these sorted. Now crashing the fx rate say by half the value, he will still need 200k or slightly lesser to attend to his needs but his kids would have to send 200 GBP.

If they are selling at that rate, it means that they have abroad BDCs to sell at 1600, meaning that the value of naira is still depreciating.
