You’d be hard pressed to find a Nigerian resign a juicy public office. I am inclined to believe it is a health condition that is worsening and needs immediate attention and recovery is long.
Depends how much he has made and his level of longathroat.

Ngelale is exposed to USA property market and knows how much he needs to retire comfortably. Maybe he has achieved that amount. Most Nigerian politicians don't have that exposure and have expensive structures to maintain. Even the ones that want to hammer and travel have all manner of visas to procure. Ngelale looks like someone that can retire with $4m

How did that guy become a senator in a state like Edo?
Dat na the original phuck up.
Senators or legislators generally don't do much campaign, they leverage on the campaign of their party or it's presidential candidates since both election is conducted same day.

Like Treblechamp rightly said , I’ve been following election cycles for a while now and I’ve not really seen Senatorial and HOR candidates do much campaign beyond posters and bill boards that has their face , their party’s governorship candidate and presidential candidate.

When the governorship and presidential candidates of their party comes to campaign in their senatorial district/constituency , they will ensure they wet the ground and arrange crowd whom they will speak to. The governorship and presidential candidates will raise their hand and that’s all.

The rest of their own campaign is about sharing money , souvenirs and sometimes fighting the rival party’s candidate on their campaign tour. I’ve seen this happen in different campaign cycle over time.

That’s why people of questionable character and intelligence always make it to the house of assembly and they really can’t come up with good laws that will move the country forward .

They said he was sacked after losing out in the power tussle with Onanuga. They only gave him a soft landing to resign publicly .

That is where many Nigerians are getting it wrong. Parliamentary elections are as important as elections into the executive. That is where many of the decisions that make or mar the fate of the common man are being signed and sealed.

I doubt there is anything major he can't beg his way out of, given his relationship with Tinubu family. I think he is fairly comfortable. Someone who grew up abroad often knows what to do with the money they have made, and he doesn't need to hold on unlike our Naija politicians who often don't know how to invest abroad

Things in Aso Rock are more complex than we see them to be .

It was the same Aso Rock there was a shootout between Tunde Sabiu’s security and Aisha Buhari’s security . I think Aso Rock is another civil service on its own.

If the powers that be want Ajuri out , there’s next to nothing Tinubu can do to veto him in.

[color=royalblue]Tinubu should not have given two people the same portfolio.

Na the first mistake be that.

Either Ajuri or Bayo should have been the SA, or at least they should know who was going to be the superior

okpa simply screenshotted the posts of right wingers. he forgets that in liberal democracies, there is diversity of opinion, unlike in his beloved autocratic states where no one has a mind of their own and everyone parrots the same line

okpa also needs to show us where the lady said that the irish are lazy bums and she is the one who developed the place where she is staying - if he wants to play that game.

You may be on the money.
There's always court politics in every powerful office.

It's clear he lost out.
The open question is why he's dropping it all.
One minute he is adding more portfolios, the next he is going off radar completely.

I don't also think it's about graft satiety.
If I were to venture a guess, it'd be something similar to UN DSG Madame Amina.
Dude has buffed up his resume and will decompress before meandering his way into the non-profit complex.
He appears to have more than a passing interest in climate action. I'm sure there's a DEI spot he could snag with a handful of recommendations. Get a 6 figure salary for upkeep and invest his Presidency loot (with no draws).

Personally, I think he should have run out the clock. It's not about greed.
It's about being practical. Like sportsmen, when you're hot sh*t, get the largest contracts.
There is a huge QoL jump from $4m to $25m to $80m to $150m.

We're all built different. So good luck to him.

This grammar deserves accolades

This na "chop belleful" wey go Harvard cheesy

In the words of Asake - Wetin you love o, No be wetin I love o

One man hunger is another man chop belleful. You have to remember his father was a Minister, and also chopped from Odili and Amaechi, and they know what to do with money. Man probably has enough to live comfortably even before this, that's why he reversed Japa to Naija to try his luck.

I agree with u. The man probably has thing set up already for him, he might land an international job anytime soon that may be more rewarding and less stressful than the presidency job.

It beats one imagination why he would just walk away from everything just because of ego. He definitely has an exit strategy before throwing in the towel

At 37, Ngelale is still young, consequently he needs the continued exposure and spotlight at this level, especially if he wants to remain politically relevant for the future. This leads me to believe it may be beyond his control.

He lasted a year, which is enough to get him some bar but I don’t think anything extreme, especially in a visible portfolio like he held. $4M (if we are using this as the guesstimate) is a lot of bar, however, if he the goal is to buy properties in the US and retire living a large life in the US, he has a long way, considering he is still very young. If this is retirement, considering his exposure and intelligence, he would get bored really quick and want back in.

Again, this feels like some sort of sabbatical that was beyond his control at this time. I am inclined to health within his primary circle which includes him. After tasting power and control at this level, I expect him to attempt a comeback at some point in the near future.

That is how bad being a Nigerian can stain your precious white.

We are suddenly not known for any good thing worldwide.

Ajuri has been working with Buhari before now and his dad was Minister under OBJ and was in Odili and Amaechis circle collecting contracts. Bar is not his problem. He should have that amount or close. He is born in America and only moved to Naija at 25, he doesn't need Naija politicians level of bar to be comfortable back home.
