Gbagada any day any time. When we wanted to relocate, my husband checked all these places and finally chose Gbagada, and I never regretted it. Electricity, Band A(24/7), security topnotch, good road network. Being at the center gave it an upperhand to these other places you mentioned. The only cons are, some places don't have good water, also rent is too high now but it's a lovely place.

My second option is Ogudu GRA. You can also check it out
Ilupeju/Anthony is a nice place too

Gbagada is the best so far . Gbagada is very clean and neat and porsh houses full Gbagada .

Won't you ask if he can afford it? I remember 2014 or so, rent was already over N1m for 2 bedroom. Magodo or Shangisha.

Magodo is good if you are well loaded. Gbagada too is nice but you won't enjoy both Gbagada and Magodo if you are not on ride. And they are both dangerous at night, but in Surulere you can easily find your way no matter what the time says.

PLEASE don't ever buy new house in Magodo and Gbagada unless you which to demolish it and rebuild. I have witnessed many collapsing building in Magodo and Gbagada due to my nature of work. They will sale the house because it is tilting but only a building expert will know. Most part of Magodo and Gbagada requires pile foundation.

Surulere is the best and more secure and easy access to the island and anywhere else.... Ask around... Trek able if you have no money or ven then island is on locked down coz of traffic. Choose wisely, choose Lere... In your best interest.

Lere used to be safe but that's in the past, just few days ago two men on a bike killed a man in broad day light along Adeniran Ogunsanya, and that's the second time in a month.

Lere is old glory, hit men has taken over Surulere.

Depend on ur place of work & budget

Surulere has casted. Congested, terrible and unnecessary traffic, old buildings yet expensive to rent. However its good for commerce and recreation.

Magodo is the poshest/classiest of the three. Completely upscale and no mix with slums and also relatively the most secure. It is also the most expensive. Closest to Ikeja but farthest from the Island.

Gbagada also has very good housing estates but it's mixed with the rough and not so secure areas as well. Its central location with easy access to Ikeja and Island is a plus.

Surulere is the biggest by far and has a mix of the very good to the very bad. In terms of liveliness, it is the best but also the least secure. It's also the closest to the Island.

Ogudu GRA is also another very decent place to stay, but it's more like Gbagada in assessment.

Ikeja GRA, Omole phases 1 & 2 are other sweet posh and serene locations to live in Mainland Lagos.

Of course I have been to Ogudu, and its a very cool area, I once planted a branch of my business there. And I can relate when you say Magodo is better than GRA, but biko, GRA has Isaac John Street (with places like Raddission Hotel, Jade Restaurant, Hubmart, The Place, Metro Park and Joel Ogunnaike Street with sooo many top class Hotels and restaurants - [Marriot Hotel / Yellow Chilli, to mention a few) - Magodo by comparison has only CMD Road with low grade restaurants and small hotels.

Besides the inner enclosures of GRA are very reserved and quite Old-Ikoyi-like.

Yeah I understand . Ikeja GRA is getting more commercialized. For serenity, access to the island and Ikeja and other good amenities, it is Ogudu and Magodo for me.

Crappy talks from people who don't have any idea about Lagos at all...Surulere is bigger than Magodo and Gbagada join together time 3,in Surulere you have to Good ,the ,bad and the Ugly,Magodo and Gbagada estate,let's be specific when mentioning areas are different from ketu alapere which some part of Magodo if you no sabi is part of,same goes with Gbagada estate too,you have the Gbagada itself with shomolu,mende etc , Surulere is freaking big ,from yaba to Aguda coker is Surulere,plus iganmu,Eric Moore,games village,there are alot of estates in Surulere if you want peace and quiet,if you are a fun seeker..no where beats Surulere in Lagos ..and it's the center of Lagos .. Gbagada and Magodo will do you well if all you seek is to and fro to island and Ikeja,those two are closer to Ikeja and with 3rd mainland,it's just a 15 mins drive on the bridge..no hold up ooo .but Surulere to island depending on the time ,you might use 6 hours to get to island or same to get to Ikeja,also you might use just 20mins to get to island and to Ikeja, depending on the time of the day and the traffic you facing.

very correct surulere in the most center part of lagos and also Apapa and AJegunle....from here you can link to the island easily.......Yaba is not part of surulere o abeg, as from tejuosho market is under lagos mainland local govt ok, surulere have the good bad and ugly .....porsh places around bode thomas and adelabu areas and slums in coker orile and ijesha areas
