If your dad has been driving for 20 years, then he of all people should have known that he didn't have to stay to help at that dark hour of the day(5am) when he doesn't have eye witnesses to corroborate his story of not being responsible for the accident. |

Ishilove Please tell the guy he simply needs a free human rights lawyer. That Keke man's family are thieves and they shouldn't pay them a dime. They are also to return with damages added, any monies already paid to them. This is what happens when you don't know your rights. Ishilove He can also try the office of the public defender. It's a lagos state agency that provides free legal advise and solicitations for the indigent. |

Its the dead man's family that is the problem. |

Critical thinking is seriously lacking in this country. If the picture he displayed is the father's vehicle, that was an head-on collusion. That Danfo you saw there is a raw iron, anything that could make it deformed that way is not a minor accident. Also, there was no way he could have ran away successfully in that condition with the vehicle that people wouldn't hold him down. To crown it all, the tribalism statement seems like a way to gather sympathy particularly from bigots. Please pardon my bluntness. |

Holes in this story: 1. Accident happened around 4.30- 5 am with only your dad being aware that the bike man was on one- way. By day break, eye witnesses told the police what happened. So, did the witnesses stayed with your dad from that time till the arrival of the police? Or perhaps, some of the even volunteered to follow him to the station. 2. Other drivers told him to leave the scene but he insisted on helping the man. Wonderful! We might need him to resuscitate Nigeria' s sick economy. From experience as someone who has been driving for over 20 years too, the last person that will abandon his daily job to help an accident victim in Nigeria is a commercial driver out early in search of daily bread. 3. Your father has been driving for 20 years. So, invariably it is easy to conclude that his number of driving years excludes or makes it impossible to have an accident. 4. He saw the bike man coming, slowed down but the bike man still landed right in the front of his vehicle causing damage to vehicle and even death? 5. He was illiterate but the statement at the police were concorted according to you? 6. The Police Officers were stupid enough not to have taken the necessary ground markings to determine the truth? 7. Of course, the family of the deceased were angry because your father is an Igbo man? Surely, without this, there wouldn't have been the need for discussion. Note: Think well before you quote me. |

ppogba:Felt that the story didn't fully add up.Nigerians have a penchant for not telling the whole truth when something involves them so as to sway opinions. But no matter what,if TRULY the family is demanding ₦15m and the police he claims have exonerated his dad,he doesn't have to pay a single dime. But just as you pointed out,a lot of loopholes exist.I only wish the police can come out with an official report not just the son's version of events. Still however, stranger things have happened in Nigeria so he could all be true at the same time. |

seborrhic:The family could demand money in actual fact. All he needs to do is to ensure that he limits his dealings with them and deal with the police officially. But of course, instead of thinking in that direction, they are ready to set fire as usual by bringing the Igbo - Yoruba angle into it. I remember a case in Delta back then. A motorist killed a known mad manin the town.Immediately, the family claimed that the mad man just got a visa to travel out of the country and that the driver should take care of that. Delta no dey carry last. |

They said we are igbos’s so they will not take it easy, bringing tribalism into it.As an Igbo knowing fully how Nigeria operates your Dad should have left the unfortunate victim and gone home. In Nigeria Igbos are unanimously guilty of everything with or without investigation. |

They detained him for 3days without charging him to court. If God help you and you get a good lawyer, police will pay your father good money. Don't think it's impossible, it's very possible because my friend had a case like that, we sued the police and won the case. They paid him 4.5m. |

AkpaMgbor:Thanks so much for this comment, in 2018 my brother witnessed an accident scene when he was returning from a trip, he tried to take one of the survivor to a nearest hospital, they were still communicating in the car but later on my brother realized he wasn't responding to his question of "hope you are not feeling weak"? He said he was frightened but eventually got him to hospital but he was confirmed DOA. He was advised to make a report at the police station, before you know they changed this matter on his head, he told them to go to the scene and and confirm because 3 people died in that accident. Eventually they were able to investigate and confirmed he was just a helper. When he came home and people were saying next time please just overlook, he said he won't stop helping people but guess what? Earlier this year his wife's brother was on his way to my brother's house and got involved in an accident and was unconscious and people didn't give a damn, he was fortunate to be passing and just decided to help again and realized is his own in-law. It's good to be good always no matter what. I remember that his first case, the wife was busy shouting "he won't mind his business and always wants to be there for people he doesn't know , see the problem he has invited to our lives now, was he the only one passing?" |

But the story no add up. Ur father went to station to bring police, still follow the police carry the victim too the hospital... anyways, this one that u brought tribalism into it, are u trying to sort from help from only ur particular tribe? |

Ishilove:Your dad wasn't wise. All over the world people stay away from accident talk less of Nigeria. I was driving with my wife and two young men on a bike overtook us in a heavy rain at night with terrible speed. They crashed immediately they overtook us very close to a police post opposite government house. My wife wanted us to help I told her straight that nobody helps fools. We left in peace. The police recovered their bodies in the morning. |

NairaMaster1:Truth is, in this Nigeria that we are, the last set of people that will help a lone accident victim are the commercial drivers in search of their daily bread. Even when dem jam you sef, dem never stop na to help okada man wey get accident for 5am. Mumu story swallowed hook, line and sinker only by Mumus. |

I actually feel very sorry for your father dear poster, some things don't actually add up? Does your father use danfo for delivery? Because that definitely does not look like a delivery vehicle, secondly your explanation of the accident does not match the effect of the accident on your dad's delivery van. This is a complete head on head collision even though your dad may have tried to dodge the bike thereby swerving to the left. I pray he is let free and hopes he learns. Anything that will take you to a police station, whether you are right or wrong should be avoided. |
