In my candid opinion, don't love you wife more than your mum, why? Your mums relationship with you is eternal, while that of your wife may not be. A man dies, the likelyhood is that within some months, the wife has moved on, heck, men are alive and other men are climbing their lovely wives. Lol
On the other hand, in marriage, your wife is the woman of the house. If you find out that your mum visits often and obviously does not get along with your wife, then let your mama remain in her own home, only visiting when necessary. Abi she no get her own house and husband to take care off? Even if her husband is late, let her visit other siblings that she gets along with their wives better, or go disturb her daughters homes.

Your wife is more of a sexual love. You want to touch her, hug her, kiss her, gist, go out... Etc.

While that of your mom is more like a parent-child kind of love. You chech up on her, ask after her health, hear her gists from the latest happenings in the family and the village... Etc.

the love a man has for his mother is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the love he has for his wife... your mum's love is unconditional whether she is a good/great/useless mother (same with siblings) while the love for a spouse is a conscious decision to love someone. these are two different type of love and shouldnt be compared. a smart person will simply look at whats best for whom at each and every issues... and certainly not use LOVE to determine anything between these two.
