I think the governor deliberately wants to heat up the policy. It may be a strategy such that even if APC never had intentions of destabilizing the state, they would never think.of it since he's already accusing them falsely about it.

I am not conversant with Edo state politics and don't really know what they are dragging amongst themselves, but from the Obaseki video addressing Abdulsalam Abubakar ; he does have a point.

He mentioned how his party members were singled-out for arrests and shipped down to ABJ for preosecution instead of trying them in a law court in Edo state within the jurisdiction where the alleged crimes were committed.

He believes the IGP working in conivinace with FG wants to undermine his role as the CSO of the state and he doesn't trust the IGP controlled police force to ensure fair security of lives and properties during the election period. He insisted that things be done the right way in his personal conversation with the IGP, but the IGP has since aired him.


From where I stand it looks like the governor is calling out for the people to resort to self-help this election period (which is not ideal); but one cannot deny the fact that the actions and inactions of the IGP has led him to this point.

You're wrong. Obaseki is saying that the police is not neutral. They're arresting his party members and local government chairman and taking them to Abuja. He cannot sign any peace treaty with an agency that has their own agenda

Our politicians are a rare breed

Another whataboutism. Disobeying court judgment didn't start from Obaseki, you know how many times PMB disobeyed court order, and even the present administration. But we believe immunity is covering them. Maybe when they finish their tenure you can charge them to court with your evidence

Accusing them falsely? Several PDP members have been detained illegally in the buildup to the elections, APC has some of the states fiercest thugs in their payroll... A few weeks ago, they unleashed violence around the state.

What's the point signing a peace accord when war is taking place actively. Peace accord hasn't stopped politicians from unleashing violence over the years. Obaseki can sign the peace accord and still go ahead with violence, him refusing to sign is a signal to and message to the powers that be to allow peace reign in the state.

From my interpretation of the video he doesn't really care about any rule of law. He just declared war and doesn't want anybody to tie his hands to his back while he's fighting the war.

He does not want to be bound by the provisions of any peace accord.
