Over 95% Of Petroleum Product Importers In Nigeria Are Not Buying From Dangote by treesun(op): 11:39am On Sep 12, 2024
During Spaces session on Wednesday, Devakumar V. G. Edwin - Vice President, Dangote Industries Limited revealed key insights into the challenges facing the Dangote Refinery and its impact on Nigeria’s fuel supply and prices:

Over 95% of petroleum product importers in Nigeria are not buying from the Dangote Refinery.

👉The Dangote Refinery struggles to sell about 29 tankers of diesel per day due to low patronage from local petroleum product importers.

👉As a result of this poor local patronage, dangote refinery exports most of its diesel and aviation fuel.

👉The Dangote Refinery has imported around 57 shiploads of crude, as local supply from the NNPC remains limited.

👉Petroleum product marketers in Nigeria have written to President Bola Tinubu, complaining that the refinery’s local diesel prices — which have dropped from N1,200 to N1,000 and now to N900 per litre — are negatively impacting their businesses.

👉Despite the challenges, 44% of dangote refinery’s petrol production capacity is sufficient to meet all of Nigeria’s local demand.

👉Currently, around 29 tankers are lifting fuel from the the depot of other importers daily.

My biggest takeaway from all of this

If thats the case, then FG needs to look for a way to find a connecting bridge between Dangote's profitability and Marketers fair price cap

Meeting all local demands will eliminate scarcity and these silly dubious acts by the marketers and the conmen in NNPC

If Dangote continues to export most of his products and Marketers keep importing theirs, then the Dangote refinery is useless to us all

PBAT should be serious about this.

This is good news. It shows that Dangote is not just a big player in the oil and gas sector, but also a major player in the global petroleum products market.

The federal can change the trend in one day by just imposing massive tax to discourage them but if you know that some government officials are owners of this companies, you will definitely understand why they are yet to do anything about it to promote indigenous companies

The only thing I deduce from this is that is still cheaper to import all these petroleum products there is no other explanation. And if government stop importation of these products, dangote fit kill us with price.

Another incompetence from the so-called strategists who appointed himself as the president and the petroleum Minister grin It's easy to bann food importation but it's a rocket science to bann any form of fuel importation undecided . Crude is the only thing that drives our economy while not just buy from Dangote even if it's as the same price as imported one which is practically impossible bcs of logistics so that we can save the Naira from falling.
Nobody can convince me that PBAT and other thieves are not cartels running oil refineries abroad. 2027 should come, and let's all be united for once and retire the hunger strategist angry

Dangote and FG trying to blame nameless marketers ahead to justify what they are cooking for Nigerians behind the scene

Front the extended report, this Devakumar guy is saying, the reason why local marketers are not patronizing Dangote and even wrote a letter to FG to complain is because Dangote diesel is too cheap selling for N900-1000 and it is impacting their businesses.
Who are the marketers that wrote to the FG. What exactly is their rational for complaining that Dangote selling diesel around N1000 is impacting their businesses so they want something higher.

I know some people will believe this nonsense and start blaming Nigerians for being the problem of Nigeria.
FG and Dangote need to stop deceiving themselves.

Can't believe a whole country Nigeria discussed one man's refinery for many years and now doing so for prices of the products for many months now and counting.
Is it that Nigerians cannot lead themselves...

Ok. Things will sort itself out eventually.

It's a new era, everyone is still trying to figure out how this will work.
Sooner or later they will buy and prices will come down.
I'm sure that Tinubu knows this and he's banking on this for the long run.
