@cue64 I respectfully disagree with your assertion that 7k is a poor offer. While it may not seem like a large salary compared to Western standards, it is actually quite competitive within the context of public schools in China. Many public schools offer salaries in the range of 6k-10k RMB per month, and this often includes free accommodation, meals, and transportation.

Additionally, it's important to consider the cost of living in China when evaluating salary offers. While earning 10k in Shanghai or Beijing may not seem like much, it can actually provide a comfortable living in smaller cities or rural areas where the cost of living is lower.

Overall, it's important to consider the full package of benefits offered, as well as the local context, when evaluating teaching positions in China. This can help provide a more accurate picture of whether a salary offer is fair and competitive.
cue64:
I don’t want to argue honestly so let’s leave it at that, 7k is a poor offer, yes you’re right for the countries you listed, but no one from those countries would come to china to be paid 7 to 10k, just imagine earning 10k in Shanghai or Beijing and you say it’s a good offer..

lol this is funny, who will give him work as a driver? Don’t waste your money please
I have a contact who is willing to send employment offer and work permit notification which I will use to process work visa from 9ja.

But is it possible to get job offer as a driver without interview.
The contact want me to pay for those documents first.
Re: Living In China, Life Lessons And Experiences by bsideangel: 5:25pm On Sep 09, 2024
Disregard that offer, it is definitely a scam. Anyone familiar with China would recognize this as a joke. Do not hand over your hard earned money, as there is no legitimate driving job opportunity in China. This is truly the joke of the century. Shine your eyes

If you are a real IGBO born in OTU or in ONITSHA... I'm sure you will understand the meaning of SAMPA...

When you come newly, people will ask you

Did you come to live or buy and go?

And most igbos in China are mostly anambra wey dey street in onitsha and most use otu language to converse ......

Because you didn't do residence or people you knew didn't do,does not mean everyone didn't do.. people prefer to remain private and learn from the streets, doesn't mean all are same...

I understand that you are trying to seek relevance here, and I'm not against that, but kindly stop thinking in an archaic manner and know this is 2024.... where you stop na where another start(life)... inasmuch as I didn't want to reply you again, I was compelled to

I was asked, if it's school I was in gz for, I replied no,sampa way... if you understand otu slangs as you claimed, it simply meant I came to live and not studying... but honestly I won't blame you because over 90% old visitors had no papers, yall den thought sampa means not having papers... so therefore when you hear sampa, that comes to your head...

Re: Living In China, Life Lessons And Experiences by bsideangel: 9:47am On Sep 11, 2024
Let's clarify a crucial point, my friend. While 'sampa' indeed originates from the Igbo language, its meaning takes on a different connotation in Guangzhou. It specifically refers to individuals who have overstayed their visa period, it's like using the term 'aduro' it literally means asylum. It's essential to understand this context.

Notably, people with valid permits in Guangzhou never identify themselves as 'sampa.' So, I must respectfully point out the inconsistency in your narrative. Your claims of living in Guangzhou on a business visa seem to be at odds with the reality of your situation. I'm not making assumptions; your previous posts reveal a discrepancy. Visa extensions for a year in Guangzhou come with significant costs, and I'm afraid your online presence suggests that's not a feasible option for you. Let's embrace honesty and accuracy in our conversations, my friend rather than result to name calling. I mean what kind of relevance do you offer, that you think I seek?

Re: Living In China, Life Lessons And Experiences by bsideangel:
Let me explain this your statement to you,
"When you come newly, people will ask you, Did you come to live or buy and go?"

Most people that comes to Guangzhou usually come in on a business visa and many of them are on a 1 month Visa. But their intention is not to come for 1 month and return back to "bongo" their intention is purely for "japa" reasons but they did so with the wrong visa type.

So any "old G" around will ask you, "Did you come to live or buy and go?"
if your decision is to remain then you tend to overstay your visa and you become a "Sampa".

No body ask if you want to extend your visa in Guangzhou when you are new. Because you will likely get a 10 days exit otherwise it will cost you a lot and most people who are "japaring" won't be able to sustain a visa extension every month considering the cost in Guangzhou.

So, when they ask, 'Did you come to live or buy and go?', they're really asking: will you overstay your visa and become a 'Sampa' (someone who overstays their visa)? It's a pivotal moment, revealing the true intentions of newcomers. Make sense?"

The number one question you should be asking is

As a business owner or someone into business, what or where do I start from

If you are not a business man or woman or have contact, before coming to China, build contact

China no dey give JOB o

Except you go pray to God to help you

Now, the second part na to get work permit

Guangzhou dey try change things now,so e fit dey hard soon to get residence

If you no get money for that one, no wahala

But no rest of mind o..avoid Guangzhou
Honestly I'm confused on the journey
Though I know I will succeed
The travelling came out urgently
I want to use that opportunity and leave
But want to confirm
What our brothers over there do to survive and make money that's not illegal??

I have always wanted business and I believe China being China there's business opportunities

So incase someone wants to go by business what and where do I start from

I'm compelled to correct your blanket statement, not for your sake, but for those who've received offers that contradict your claim. Before making sweeping assertions, let's examine the facts. Have you worked as an ESL teacher before, particularly in a public school setting? If so, what was your compensation package like?

I suspect your experience is limited to private training centers, which differ significantly from public schools in terms of work hours, responsibilities, and remuneration.

Let's not mislead others with such generalizations that " No foreign teacher with ESL certification earns 7k". In reality, public schools offer packages like that, As a matter of fact I just saw an offer of 8,000 kwai per month my agent posted just moments ago. I personally know several ESL teachers from America, New Zealand, and Australia who've embraced these opportunities for the flexibility and work-life balance they provide.

Let's distinguish between private training centers and public schools, acknowledging the unique benefits and compensation structures of each. By doing so, we'll provide accurate guidance for those navigating the ESL teaching landscape in China.

i don’t want to argue with you, I honestly don’t have energy for all that, but please don’t come here to say an American, Australian or even south African accepts a job of 7000rmb, maybe to you and to what you’ve seen 7000 is a relatively good offer, But not to me and to what I have seen, Even those Russians and Ukrainians who aren’t even native speakers earn around 12k for kindergarten, please we don’t need to argue, you feel 7k I.e 950 USD is a good offer then I accept. Thank you

It's not an unpopular opinion, you're right. The future belongs to the East (Asia), not the west. The Western era has gone by, for good. I'll put it this way.

If I have to invite my alien friends from other planet to earth, I'll take them to a country that would leave them at least impressed, on how far human civilisation can reach. And for that, I'll take them to Japan.

For now, I actually do not know of any country that is as super developed in every way as Japan, and even more interestingly China will overtake Japan because its a brand-new country with technologies that marvels the soul.

If any of you want to make good money, go to Asia. I wonder why Africans still see the west as the place to be. It is not anymore, and I tell you this not from a place of ignorance or bias, but as a world traveler.
This my almost three years old comment aged well.

But instead of Japan, I will take my alien friends to China. Japan is going down with the west, while China has emerge as the leader in all spheres of human development, from technology, morality, wealth, culture, cuisines, space science, and so forth.
