NNPCL is technically exchanging its crude it sells in naira to DRL for the refined products. It makes perfect business sense to be the offtaker and marketers will now buy from it at a strategic margin.

Any other party buying from the refinery will have to pay import duty if it’s to be sold in Nigeria..
But with NNpC it can be waved..

Remember nnpc fixed price of fuel at N897 about 24hrs before dangote announced production of fuel. Do you think it's a coincidence?

While nnpc has been claiming "market forces" as responsible for the price of imported fuel, it is fixing price for local fuel.
