Smh. It's obvious that you don't understand this kind of things and you are now mixing ignorance with lies.

NNPCL owns more than 6% of DRL and I will suggest to you to go read what percentage is legally regarded as significant in business. I will not give you and your ilk that education here.
how do you give what you don’t have?

Excess petrol is not even in the picture yet because others, including the relatives of Alhaji Dangote, still import.

This is a milestone and I believe that other issues that come up along the way will be resolved in the patriotic interest of Nigeria and business imperative of all the stakeholders.
What we should avoid is a monopoly and scarcity not excess petrol that can be easily exported to even earn more forex.
Remember that NNPCL is a significant part owner of Dangote Refinery. Most of you keep forgetting this fact.
How can you be explaining what you don't know! That Tinibu is the president doesn't give to the authority to be lying with impunity. NNPCL has no significant share in Dangote Refinery, they lied that it was 20% but later said that it is 7%, now its zero percent.
Milestone? Dangote is an individual. His refinery is not govt owned hence NNPCL should not have monopoly over Dangote PMS. It leaves them to fix price, withhold PMS, smuggle oil etc. With this fuel scarcity will still continue.

NNPCL is technically exchanging its crude it sells in naira to DRL for the refined products. It makes perfect business sense to be the offtaker and marketers will now buy from it at a strategic margin.
even at that, there is no excuse or justification for dangote not to annouce his own price ..
how can we trust an enterprise that wrote petition against dangote for crashing the price of diesel, inferring diesel is cheap and therefore counterproductive

these people have shown they dont mean well for Nigerians, there is no strategic margin the ploy is exploiting Nigerians

The petroleum sector doesn't need a middle man or middle system to regulate the industry. Let everyone buy from dangote directly and determine what price he or she will sell.

Less than 10% ownership is significant to you?

The instruction by government was sell to Dangote not swap. NNPCL is looking for how to create secrecy and confusion They are not supposed to be sole off takers in a deregulated market system.

The harsh reality is that honesty is a foreign concept to the current Government. Their actions are shrouded in deceit, and the truth is deliberately obscured. We have a functioning refinery , and the fact that marketing the product has become a challenge is a clear indication of their dishonesty.

What a travesty that this is the state of affairs in Nigeria! What a shame that the APC party, which promised so much, has delivered so little. Their lack of transparency and accountability is a betrayal of the trust placed in them by the people. It's time to call out their failures and demand better. Enough is enough!

NNPC still pays subsidy on PMS. Only a cra.zy person will buy directly from Dangote when you can buy it at a subsidized rate from NNPC.

what happens if another local marketer approaches DRL and buys excess petrol. There will be excess petrol at some point because NNPCL is offering Dangote Refinery Limited 385K BPD of crude oil and we know DRL can process 650K BPD. That effectively points to corruption between the NNPCL and their supervisors in the govt at federal level. In the previous articles, Edwin said something about around a quarter of DRL output satisfying local needs but NNPCL is saying they will be give over half of DRL capacity in exchange for local needs. NNPCL isnt in charge of the borders so should take the blame for smuggling but what is the govt doing about that? Pretending because they are the ultimate beneficiaries and you,FreeStuffNG, are playing along because you're "eating" with them?
As it is now, no marketer will be allowed by the govt to buy directly from Dangote refinery
Re: We Never Boycotted Dangote’s Petrol, But… — Marketers by lekonso: 1:42am On Sep 15, 2024
CodeTemplarr:
tlThere must be excess. Dangote and Edwin says a quarter(25%) of 650k bpd can cover local needs, NNPCL says they are giving ~60% of 650k bpd to DRL. That leaves a reverse or opposite shortfall of around 30% of 650k bpd.
The discrepancy is obvious to even a competent primary 3 pupil.
Don't believe everything these people say oo. How many of their words do they follow

The arrangement btwn NNPCL and DRL is shrouded in deep secrecy and it is very difficult for one to make informed judgements on what goes on in the energy sector at the moment. It also gives rise to suspicion of under dealing. Let the Government provide ample information to the public already. Atm, nobody knows how much is a liter of Dangote PMS.

And the same nnpc denied that it's not the sole buyer.

Be deceiving yourself.

What is this "strategic margin"?

Kindly explain how it makes perfect business sense?

Did dangote get the crude for free?

Nnpc dishes out lies on per second basis. It denies being sole buyer but it is announcing that it is the sole buyer

Who are the "we"?

Which monopoly is to be avoided when the same nnpc that u blindly support has already monopolised supply?

On one hand you support nnpc for being single buyer because you claim "It makes perfect business sense to be the offtaker" and yet you say monopoly should be avoided.

Sycophancy won't let you see how you are contradicting yourself

6% ownership is significant to you?
It is in a private company that aligned with governments vision of deregulating the oil industry.....,
It's even too much sef, should be max 5%

Anything above 10% government ownership, Alhaji should be worried, it means gradually the government will continue buying its shares till it owns majority shares then the NNPC hawks will move in and cripple the refinery just like they did theirs

Nnpc is 100% owned by government see where it is today

The Real Oil Cabals In Nigeria:
•Just imagine the numbers of different Associations Controlling Our Oil in Nigeria- the Independent Petroleum Marketer's ( IPMAN),see another - the Deport Association, etc.
Some People, have been Feeding-Fat on Nigeria-,for long, even before many on the Nairaland Forum were born!
Can you see how tall Nigeria Corruption Rope has been?
•Can you now see why the NNPC and its Agents of Darkness don't want Nigeria to move forward?
•Can you see why they want to be Importing - from Malta, from Europe and other Places- Brazil etc?
•Can you see why they want to Continue to wage war against the Foreign Currencies ( FOREX) by the bank,so Nigeria Naira will not rise?
•We NIGERIANS are the Enemies of Ourselves because we lack Patriotism.
•God bless Dangote- coming to Nigeria's Rescue.
Why Should NNPC and her Agents Be Relevant here and What have they Contributed to Dangote Refinery, yet they wouldn't allow independent Owners to carry Fuel from Dangote- as they Still want to Control it- then they ( NNPC) loads Additional Prices to make it higher for Ordinary Masses under the Pretense - it has to be with International Prices!
This Is how Corruption have been dealing with Nigeria and the government, because of their Interests are just looking on!
•Nigerians Must defend this Dangote Refinery, otherwise,we are doomed •

First of all NNPCL doesn't have significant ownership of DRL. They back out of their initial 20% offer. I think they have about 6% or so. Secondly, we were told that NNPCL is the sole importer of petrol, so how come you claim Dangote relative is importing petrol into the country.

Please note that 385k bpd of crude will not translate to 385k bpd of petrol. The crude has other components such as diesel, kerosene, jet fuel etc

What is the need for subsidy (their cash cow) if they are selling the crude in Nigeria, refined locally and then sold in Naira?
