You can bring in a 20 year old salvage/condemned Toyota and fix it and sell it in Nigeria.
With competition like this.....He wont be around for long.
The Government officials prefer luxury cars eg Mercedes,BMW, etc

Good innovation but electric vehicle has no business in Africa for now. First it's expensive, no infrastructure to recharge, it's expensive. First world countries are still figuring it out. Innoson should focus on making the normal cars it makes.

When you open your own car company do what you like with the logo. Don't come on here on a faceless forum to tell IVM what to do.

If something is affordable and accessible to the average Nigerian, we often undervalue it, considering it inferior or of lesser quality.

Ironically, the only Nigerian-made products that command respect and desire are often those priced higher than their imported counterparts—take high-tension cables for example.

I know of a woman who sells both foreign and Nigerian rice, with the Nigerian variety being more expensive, despite the foreign rice often appearing cleaner and more visually appealing.

Her marketing strategy is brilliant: she emphasizes that the Nigerian rice is organic, non-parboiled, and yields more when cooked—1 cup of Naija rice rises to the equivalent of 2 parboiled foreign rice.

She compares the taste favorably, highlighting that it lacks the blandness of foreign rice and is free of impurities like sand. Meaning: Naija rice tastes way better.

What I'm suggesting is this: for Nigerians to truly value locally made products, they must be priced higher than their foreign equivalents.

Anything cheaper risks being labeled as "inferior" and will struggle to gain market traction. The mindset that African or Chinese products are inherently substandard has been carefully orchestrated by Western powers, despite the fact that many European and American products are manufactured in China, with up to 80% of raw materials sourced from Africa and Asia.

To change this perception, Nigerian-made products should only see price reductions after 2 decades or more of being positioned as premium.

By then, popular celebrities home and abroad would have endorsed them, further enhancing their status.

The psychology behind this is clear: people, especially those with less money, aspire to own what the wealthy possess.

This same tactic has been masterfully employed by brands like Apple, which has reaped billions of poor people their money by appealing to their desire to appear affluent.

This strategy isn't just about marketing—it’s about protecting Nigerian products from the same stigma that plagued Chinese goods for decades.

Even now, many still regard Chinese cars as inferior or fragile. We must avoid such negative associations with our local products.

Take Dangote's fuel, for instance. If it's priced lower than imported alternatives, people will assume it's of lower quality just as someone from NNPCL has already alleged. You see the game?

Instead, it should be priced on par with or higher than foreign fuel. Poor Nigerians detest being perceived as poor (ego battle), and higher prices can actually drive demand while fostering a sense of pride in Nigerian-made goods.

For the first two decades, no newly manufactured Nigerian products should be cheap.

Pricing it higher prevents the inferiority complex syndrome imposed by Western influence and builds respect for locally produced items.

The more expensive a product, the more Nigerians will covet and desire it.

Any poor Nigerian who says Innoson's cars are expensive and force the company to reduce it will buy Rolls Royce when he becomes rich and ignores Innoson because he'll see it as too cheap = inferior.

This was the same man, when he was poor, that was screaming "it's too expensive."

Those who disagree with this simply fail to grasp the underlying psychological warfare we are up against.
