Well cost of production is high. Only if banks include purchase financing
Re: Innoson IVM EX02 Electric Car (Pictures) by Originalsly:
Nigeria is not at all ready for EVs....and so are many countries. I guess Innoson is depending on sales to the FG or State Government and not to private citizens. More private citizens who can afford to buy ... and are considering buying one ... would have concerns about electricity supply... and charging. Even if the electricity is available ... is the current stable?...and if not stable as usual ..how will it affect the battery? Then availability... would electricity be available at destination location if needed? Toyota said the world is not ready for EVs ... and has been focusing on Hybrids instead. EV is no longer doing as well while the sale of hybrids is increasing. But like Toyota ...I guess Innoson will not be putting out many.

Well, it will be very difficult for him to blow with strict government patronage.
Cars are a tough market, because Nigerian car market is free for all, no regulations no policies.
You can bring in a 20 year old salvage/condemned Toyota and fix it and sell it in Nigeria.
With competition like this.....He wont be around for long.
The Government officials prefer luxury cars eg Mercedes,BMW, etc
Innoson is a seasoned business man
Innoson motors is not his first business

U think there is no regulations for car imports? Lmao
100% import duty is what?
Nigerians are too Poor that's the Koko
All this tour theory neglect the fundamental problem which is Nigerians are too poor that's beyond innoson

He is doing fantastic given the conditions available

If Innoson cannot take advantage of the expensive fuel to market his cars.

I am sorry to say he is not doing a good job marketing.

He should sell aggressively, in the big cities

Get a turf in Lagos...sales and repair and charging

How about the suspensions. The axles. There are still some mechanical and electrical parts to maintain bro.
How often are those maintained? Plus those are not electrical parts. Any mechanic can change suspension.

Good innovation but electric vehicle has no business in Africa for now. First it's expensive, no infrastructure to recharge, it's expensive. First world countries are still figuring it out. Innoson should focus on making the normal cars it makes.
The electric vehicle is a complete joke

Be calming down, there is ongoing research to get cheaper lithium and longer lasting batteries.
People were driving cars in Nigeria before we discovered crude oil.
They were importing the petrol at a high cost. Dont forget.
Boss, I get they have been doing that research for 50 years.

Electric cars cost significantly more, eat through d tyres 40% faster cos of the extra weight, have better milage in city but poorer milage than gasoline engines on highway, n a country like Nigeria, you end up buying fuel to recharge your electric car. It's also anything but clean cos d CO2 during its production is astronomically higher

The biggest issue is that d battery will completely degrade under 8 years, n d replacement cost will buy another car.

If you run over a log of wood or speed bump scrape the underneath of the car, in foreign countries they will scrap the entire battery n bill you easy $30k for a new replacement.

Electric cars also burn a lot on their own, n if it starts burning, no fire fighter in the world can stop that fire because those batteries produces their own oxygen

Hertz, perhaps the biggest rental company in the world foolishly bought into d electric car scam n are now selling off their entire fleet of 100,000 model 3 fleet.

Electric cars are a great second car for d elite with extra money, never d solution for masses.

I don't think marketing is the issue, I think the issue is the cost. Innosun cars are expensive because they are new and majority of Nigerians can't afford that. Most Nigerians go for used cars

So electric vehicle do not have electrical parts. Your initial post stated you just charge and drive nothing to maintain. Come on. How. Is that possible you went overboard you know.

Thank God the students kept their designs.

Arm chair critic. You probably said Innoson won’t last as long as it has when they started.

See you in another 10 years.
I give it to you.
I am actually sitting in an armchair.
Nigeria has lax laws on Money Laundering, that's why a lot of businesses stay open, even though they are not really making money.
We can stand on the road in Lagos and Abuja......We will count 1 million cars driving past and not a single Innoson car !!
Guy rest....a lot of Nigerian businesses are fronts for money Laundering. We keep quiet doesn't mean we don't know whats going on.

There's nothing to maintain.
There's no Engine oil to change, no radiator to change water, no gear box to change gear oil...
There's no nothing.
Just like your phone, charge it and use.
This is a very simplistic answer..
Yes EV cars might not have the conventional engine, tranny and associated maintenance, however it does have many other components that need regular replacement and occasional repair..and they are very pricey..
Don't let anyone fool you EV cars are 💯 maintenance free.
