25% Of FCT : My Personal Views Not Relevant To Supreme Court’s Ruling – Agbakoba by bennybuhari(op): 11:06am On Sep 18, 2024
Chief Olisa Agbakoba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) says the Supreme Court ruling on 25 per cent of votes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to be declared as Nigeria’s President supercedes his personal views.

While Agbakoba, a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) had earlier said winning 25 per cent of votes in the FCT is compulsory to becoming president, the Supreme Court in October 2023 upheld the ruling by the Appeal Court that a candidate does not need to get at least 25 per cent of votes in the FCT to be declared as Nigeria’s President.

Some Nigerians on social media had claimed Agbakoba had kept quiet after the verdict of the Supreme Court.

But speaking in an interview with TheScrutiny, Agbakoba said his personal views are not relevant to the Supreme Court’s ruling.

“My personal views are not relevant to what the Supreme Court has said. Supreme Court has resolved it that 25 percent of the votes in Abuja are not material to becoming president. That is the law”.

Legal discussions involve a lot of complexities. That is what they use to hold us down. They can interpret the law as they like based on who paid higher.

Obidients don't know the different between personal opinion and the law, Obidients were busy fooling themselves with 25% of FCT. Forgetting that is personal opinion of some lawyers saying it's must
Just as you don't seem to know the difference between "different" and "difference" bro. And then, how wise is it to conclude that a SAN holds 'personal' opinions when stating what the law of the land says on an issue?

This is common sense and shouldn't be complicated. It's quite shocking that any educated person would argue that people from Abuja are superior Nigerians.

COMRADES, Tinubu and APC's court, not the supreme court of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

Is it about people in Abuja being superior, or Abuja itself being a superior region since it's the seat of government?

Abuja is not a superior region in anyway. In fact, Abuja is an inferior quasi-state unit in the federation because it does not have the status of a full state. The constitutional provision a lot of you are misinterpreting was actually to push Abuja up to something close to a state status so that it won’t be treated as an inferior unit in the federation.

Does this logic applies to states and their capitals?

This one was just supporting his brother before.
Even common sense will tell anyone with as much as a brain that one state cannot be used to determine who wins an election that held in 36 states + FCT.

I am even surprised he posted a comment of five lines today.. hin comments no dey pass one or two lines. Illiterate trolls can't chew, digest and express opinions of their own with their own brains.. the best their brains can process is just as they are told: troll and insult, then collect your 30k. 🤯🤯

Do you really think Obidients have common sense ? Can't you see the way they attack anything and everything not supporting Obi? To them Obi is the start and end of all law. They are irredeemable.
