That's what they do every year so that we will think nothing can be done, news flash there's always a solution to a problem, if there's no solution the problem wouldn't exist..

hmmmm every year.... how can there be permanent solution when they are made rich from unaccounted grant and donations each time this occurs. See the amount pouring in from different individuals and bodies to the North due to the flood disaster there right now but at the end nothing will be shown for it shame

Kogi, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross-Rivers, and Rivers will be in a world of hurt. Iy should be noted that the flood waters from Maiduguri are gradually flowing down south. You add this to the water coming from Cameroun when both river niger and benue meet in Lokoja and a major problem is in the picture.
Benue and Nasarawa may not have much to worry about for now.
It must be said though that since this flooding along the Benue river has been happening repeatedly over the past 15 years, then no government will have an excuse not to be prepared.
The madiguri one channels towards lake Chad.

As usual, dish out warnings without emergency plans like quickly building temporary shelter and arranging how to evacuate those who may be affected in the various states.

Where do you want them to go? Is this actually a country, where majority survive like despondent orphans? Shame of a nation.

Atleast wecan all agree these floodings arent caused by rains , but reckless release of the dam gates.

Reminds me of that song, '' open the flood gate''. Methinks someone wants to trigger another food crises, if farmland with crops are flooded, how do you get food?

Don't say what you don't know. Rivers in Borno axis do not flow southward but toward L. Chad.

This is yearly thing for over 10yrs now when will Nigeria build a counter dam to solve this problem 13 state is not a joke
LOL... What about each state building for itself a dam or reservoir for all of that valuable water that comes in every year, according to you? YOu already know that all the FG will give is rice for the pain of the people. grin

Flood water, not dams or rivers, flowing upwards towards the north, out of Nigeria? Are you certain? undecided

What in the world do you mean? The emergency plan is to give them rice for their pain after the damage has been done. What other emergency plan are you all waiting for from this rice-promising-but-never-proven administration? angry

Flood water flows in the direction of downward gradient of the topography. That's toward lake Chad

So, what you are saying is that all of this precious water which could be used to irrigate farmlands for many months in that state— even go to paying for all of the damage it has so far caused—, will be allowed to leave Nigeria to benefit another country at the end of the day? shocked

Irrespective of the dam, irrigation or even tourist interest, a country can not stop the course of natural river or water bodies. Same way, Guinea can not stop the course of R. NIGER, through Mali, Niger, Benin, and NIGERIA. Likewise, R. Benue for some tributeries from Cameron. Same thing with R. Nile that flows northward from Tanzania and Ethiopia for the White Nile and Blue Nile respectively

The water came from a dam meaning the country was impeding or at least able to redirect the course of the natural water to begin with. If it had measures in place to handle overflows or at least had ensured the dam had been properly maintained, we would not be here discussing this now, would we? undecided
