Shueld06,

I think we should be planning on how to make a new mrv payment for Abuja,

The silence from these people is depressing
😂 you’ve been frustrated too..let’s ask OyoTunjiUSA if this is possible cuz I’m really considering it.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Ayomide98: 1:31pm On Sep 20, 2024
@OyoTunjiUSA

This is our story,

We have paid the mrv on the new portal and currently our portal states “Preapproval request processing”, which apparently means the application is with the embassy we chose(Lagos embassy), and perhaps they held us because there’s no available dates for F category in their embassy, this has been for the past 3 weeks and our resumption is next month, whereas our counterparts who chose Abuja embassy got the stage “preapproval request” sorted within 2 days, ours has spanned for 3 weeks now and there’s not been any communication from the embassy or anywhere on the portal.
We have created tickets and call the portal support, we were made to understand there’s nothing they can do from their end, that it’s a case with the embassy

Our intention: So we want to create a new account with a fresh email and start another application from scratch selecting Abuja as the post, and we wouldn’t mind if we are to pay a new mrv and fill a new DS160.

Is that possible/acceptable?

Also we would be glad to know if there’s any suggestion from you as way out.

I don’t think it should affect, just make sure you have close contact with the person who used his phone number on the payment.

It could be assumed that you have multiple numbers.

But hope the number used wasn’t a US own?
Thank you so much for your response.

And for the number, yes it's not a U.S. number.🙏
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by crowndb:
OyoTunjiUSA:
Hey 🤠

@Ayomide98 has given you the clear answer but let me clear your mind.

1. Your younger bro is being fidgety because he has applied from a
3rd country which is code name " Forum Shopping" That is a situation where you go to another country in applying for a US VISA, in order to have advantage or thinking that you will have VISA advantages etc.

2. Fortunately for your brother, all F1-VISA applicants have been given the free opportunity to apply in any 3rd country , if there is no interview appointment or opportunity to schedule an appointment in their original countries.
However, your brother should be ready to give a concrete reasons for applying in a 3rd country to the consular, especially if the consular is a disciplinarian.

PS: Your bro should just be honest and tell the consular the truth, ie i felt i won't be able to secure appointment on time if i had applied from my country because of the comments i read online, and i do not want to forfeit my admission etc.

PS: The only information available , and taken serious by the USA embassy is what you have inputted in your DS-160. Therefore, forget about the phone number used during the MRV payment.

Best Wishes 🙏
Thank you so much for the guidance. i truly appreciate.

Though i just advised him to fill a new Ds-160 and also include the phone number of the country that was used as well as his naija phone number too to make every correspond with that on his passport . Though i told him that so that he can as well add both his Nigeria address as his primary address since the young man also used his own address in the country as the applicant address. So i advised him to also add the address of the country as his secondary address . Please i hope i am in order?.. Thanks 🙏

Hey 🤠

Thank you for the A2A.

1. Try once more in raising another ticket , but, this time around merge your MRVs , I20s and SEVIS fee receipts (together as PDF attachment) in the request.

2. If the situation remains a stalemate, then yes it is possible to achieve your option B, but how certain are you that the situation will not repeat itself ?
If any one of you is a 2nd timer (you have attended the F1-VISA interview very recently), i will recommend you don't go for option B, but if you have a clean note, then so be it but, have it in mind that you are about to donate your previous MRV payments as a free gift to the USA embassy.

OPTION B.

3. You cannot open another profile b/cos double profile is not acceptable. Login to AVITS and cancel the present pending approval or delete your profile entirely, and start from afresh.

PS: You should have directed your post to the public. Some persons might have better solution to offer.

Best Wishes 🙏

If we delete the profile, and start again, can we chose Abuja without necessarily filing a new DS-160

1. It is acceptable, but it gives the consular a bad impression of you (as a careless or carefree personality. Go and fill another DS-160 which is Abuja oriented.

Deleting your profile and starting all over again or even opening another account with a different email will lead you to a state worse than you are now because it will be showing duplicate applicant error message and you wouldn't be able to do anything.
If you want to use a different passport number, then you can go ahead and delete your present account.

Please find out about it properly before you embark on such a mission.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by Ayomide98: 4:45pm On Sep 20, 2024
nysot:
My advice if you would listen, apply for Masters in Biology/Biological Sciences, Biomedical sciences which are usually funded. If you have passion for Data Science, apply and get admission into a school in the US. When you are going to the embassy, go with an I-20 for MSC Biology/Biological sciences/Biomedical sciences and get your visa. When you get to America, you can pursue your Data Science if you still wish. Please do not let ''Experience be your best teacher'' with the US embassy.
Hmm, this has iota of truth but nonetheless he can go with his passion and still make it ONLY IF he’s a proficient professional in that field, that would give him story to backup his defense at the embassy, it’s not necessary you have a masters in a field where you had your undergraduate and everyone including the consular knows this

1. No. You don't have to use another Travel passport no before you can apply for a new appointment, after purchasing another MRV.
All they have to do is to cancel their presently pending approval or totally delete their present accounts and start all over. The new AVITS gives room for you to delete your account (appointment booking process) and start all over .

PS: Even , in the previous CGI , all you have to do is attach the bio-data page of your travel passport in order to merge duplicate accounts.

1. I saw this initially but avoided it for the general public to answer . You are taking me out of the original issues into DS-160. Trow the question to the public. It's a piece of cake.

1. Normally he should use his Nigeria address and phone number as well as official email in contact information. He may then use the 3rd country address as a mailing address or work address. DS-160 is a delicate form so, i don't like giving opinion if I don't know the application background. I answered reluctantly, so you won't think one is a braggart.

PS: The applicant can use all Nigeria addresses and contact information. F1 VISA applicants are free to apply from any country, but they should be ready to give concrete reasons, if a consular throws the jab.

PS: Besides, the applicant is presenting a Nigerian passport, so the hiding game should be minimal. They knows you are a Nigerian, from Nigeria.

The duplicate account would correct itself when you logout and login again, according to someone with similar experience

I feel Lagos is doing this intentionally for F applicants.

I think it’s wise we switch to Abuja if this take 2 weeks more with no response from them, probably they have no plan for F applicant this year again.
For some of us, our admission package is golden o, it would be painful to lose it and probably have to be in the pool again.

1. Thank you for your response. I'm only worried about recent complaints given about the new US Visa scheduling website not recognizing the reference number (on time) given by First Bank.

2. As per age factor, I'll be 30 by next Month. But I've a son who is 7.

Thanks for your honest opinion.
your Age is not an issue. Many people in their mid 30's and even 40 get approved. I started my PhD this year and I am same age as you. Became 30 this month and came in last month. Your employment as a lecturer is a home ties, express how you plan to utilize your degree to improve your career trajectory, start your research group etc when you return. I was also working in a University even as a non academic staff and that was basically my home ties.

Hello I want to book an appointment at the lagos embassy this week, however, i have not made a final decision on the school because i am still expecting another schools decision. but on the personal details form, i saw that i will not be able to change personal details after paying the mrv fees (Very important: once you pay the visa application fee (MRV fee), the personal information registered on this page cannot be changed..
I will update the school on the DS160 form, However i am concerned that the school on the appointment slip and DS160 may not tally.

1. Don't be concerned. Fill another DS-160 as you have planned and attend your visa interview with both old and new ds-160s . There is no update profile option in the new AVITS website, so it is understandable. Fill another DS-160 or update the current one as soon as you have decided on your final school.

Things have changed, let him go to the embassy with a course that aligns with his undergraduate degree, when he gets to the US, he can pursue his passion. Experience is the best teacher. The ball is in his court #drops pen#
Like I said, if he’s proficient enough to explain his career transition and well technically groomed enough to state his study plans and post study plans, he would beat embassy’s approval.
Consular doesn’t expect you to be bounded to your undergraduate field for life, your choice of masters degree can be a form of advancement in your current professional field, it’s all relative.

One might even get admission in master field that relates to his undergraduate and gets denied in embassy, beating embassy’s approval is all about having aligning stories and a substantial achievement to back it up.

Moreover, masters in any IT field does not depend on whichever degree one studies, it’s all about having relative profile in that field of IT, I am an IT worker and I have acquaintances who have traveled to US for masters in IT field which they never even had their undergraduate in the field, this is a recent experience.

If he can tell his story well, No VO would deny you based on differences in your undergraduate studies and msc
