I stopped playing football about 4 years ago simply because of fear of something like this happening to me.

The Saturday morning set we usually play is a mixture of youngings, senior men and even artisans like mechanics, carpenter and bricklayers. We don't discriminate ; u can get picked on a set with random people because we usually role papers and the number u pick determines the set u will be on.

As much as we have referees and people are encouraged to play fair; there are still people who dish out rough tackles that has made few people seriously injured.

I had a one-on-one talk with myself one day and asked myself : If one small boy wey still dey primary school when I Don dey 100l for university break my leg now, wetin I go talk say happen to me to anybody that cares to ask? What will happen to my job? Will my employers allow me months to stay away from work to heal and recover? Is this football even feeding me to start with? 🤷‍♂️

Omo! That was the last time I went to play o. I just hanged boot.

He’s all those bros that were actually decent footballers in their prime , but they now old and can’t do beyond their body can carry them.
