I don't get it,I thought they said they are trying to reduce the excess money in circulation so as to curb inflation. They keep hiking interest rates to achieve that.

And now they come out to say they are trying to ensure enough cash in circulation.

I don't understand. No wonder kperogi called cardoso an "Airhead"
This CBN under Tinubu;s Cardoso is just clueless and confused

Hmmmm ... so you can just print money as you like? Then why not just be printing 24/7 and share to all citizens? This is going to make the Naira become like Monopoly money .... Monopoly money has value in the game only.... Naira will have value in Nigeria only. Agàin ... whatever Naira you have saved.... convert immediately to dollars or pounds or Euros or any stable foreign currency....regardless of the present exchange rate.

The only way to stop the madness is by military coup .... the corrupt politicians rounded up ... all their assets confiscated ... they be put on trial .. thrown in prison or executed. They can use Jerry Rawlings play book.

Re: CBN To Pump ₦1.4trn Cash Into Circulation by nwirinedu(m): 9:51am On Sep 25, 2024
You just increased MPR to 27.25 and now you want to pump more cash into the economy. Why not reduce MPR instead.

More cash for who? You increased CRR for banks, so who is really getting the more cash?

You claim to be fighting inflation but secretly fueling it. Confused Bank of Nigeria. angry

If you really want to jumpstart the economy reduce the MPR instead let the market correct itself, encourage local production , stop importation of items that can be produced locally, like PMS, matches and milk from Uganda angry
Re: CBN To Pump ₦1.4trn Cash Into Circulation by Miramonica: 9:53am On Sep 25, 2024
Very soon, Nigerians go dey buy one loaf of bread for 9 or 10K. You're pumping more money into the economy when goods and service production hasn't increased, who does that.

Nigerians are already experiencing inflation, you now want to introduce them to hyperinflation. More money chasing little goods and services.

Best CBN Governor Ever. I would Urge him to raise interest rate to 35-40 percent to tame the banks and Government Spending causing inflation and financialisation of Asset. Then Gradually ease off the interest rate as Economy improves and inflation reduces.

If only this can be allocated wisely this is able to give 50 million people 30 thousand Naira each.

The government should device a way to pay all Nigerians at least 30 thousand naira a month.

why don't you use the money instead to subsidize fuel only at NNPC filling station and see how it will trickle down massively even down to d poorest poor...

You increase the interest rate while still want to pump more money into circulation, the two can't work together in a situation like this

Let the rate of interest be reduced drastically while pumping more money into the circulation, that is when inflation will go down!

Jesus Christ! Does this guy have basic knowledge of economics at all? You want to pump 1.4 trillion raw cash into the economy. Does he know what that will do? That's going to overheat the economy. A very massive sugar high in an economy flush with cash of limited value.
The CBN is chasing shadows. Whatever happened to giving the naira value? Cardoso is simply an idiot.

Serious inflation loading. Looks like we have mad people at the helm of affairs of this country.
It can't lead to inflation. The CBN is not giving the money to the government neither are they dashing it out to Nigerians.

It will only lead to more naira notes in circulation. I hope he will print a lot of #50,#100 and #200 notes too.

This is the only thing so far that I think Cardoso hasn’t gotten a hang of.

No matter how much cash the CBN pumps into the system, it will not get to the end-users because of very corrupt bank officials who always give it to Cash paypoint operators. They charge a lot of money to give the cash to those people (multiple times the charges their ATMs can charge those who withdraw through them). That is the main problem.

The solution to this is to ban the operations of those Agents in urban centres where there are good ATM coverage. Their services should be limited to the rural areas and places where distances to ATMs are too great to travel.

Once that is done, you will see cash suddenly return to the ATMs. The Banks in Nigeria are very corrupt & hugely greedy and they are the problem with a lot of things.

The CBN is not dashing anybody 1 Kobo. They are printing more naira notes so people who have money in their account will have more access to their money whenever they want to withdraw from ATM. More ATM machines will now have more cash in them

if dey decide to pay #700 for a liter as subsidy for us only at all NNPC mega stations, the #1.4trillion can pay for around 2 billion liters of fuel.

Do u knw how long dat 2 billion liters will serve d whole nation?
