I saw the lies but I felt others were doing a good job of puncturing them.
In all this I still blame General Yakubu Gowon for being too humane to people that don't deserve it. How does one even begin to reward treachery, insurrection, and rebellion by giving such people money. All the leaders of the rebellion should have been summarily tried at military tribunals and executed. It would have saved every loyal citizen of the country this deja vu journey.

The question is why should the region be punished for the actions of their leaders then?

The whole essence of the decree was to prevent the Igbos from using their funds to finance Biafra and it worked.
How did it work, when it's still being financed?

The whole essence was to manifest the Beastly nature of man ; like the moment you see a dead man, and rain more bullets on him

The deliberate disinformation and distortion of historical facts are a hallmark of these congoid judases.

The decree was passed because virtually all Nigerian Pound notes in Biafra was confiscated by ojukwu's war cabinet that passed a decree outlawing Nigerian Pound notes and thereby forcing every 0koro to exchange their Nigerian Pound notes for ojukwu's worthless Biafran pound notes.

Also, there was a lot of Nigerian Pound notes in the hands of Ojukwu's criminal cabinet that was stolen from bank vaults in the Midwest and across the old Eastern region.

Ojukwu himself fled from his Biafra in a jet loaded with Nigerian pounds.

It is was no brainer this that any substantive Nigerian Pound notes in the hands of individuals in Biafra were from those confiscated from the populace and stolen from bank vaults .

Every Biafran in Biafra had since handed their hard earned currency to Ojukwu in exchange of his worthless Biafra pounds .

To allow those same war criminals like Ojukwu and his cohorts to now exchange their Nigerian Pounds for the new Nigerian Naira was facilitating theft .

0koro and lies nah five and six.

You seen this part of this evil decree?
That was where Lucifer and all his evil angels came down to earth to work. Whosoever took time to craft this, deserve a place at the right side of the devil.

That the federal government led by Gowon and the Ministry of Finance led by one Awolowo, injected this line in such obnoxious decree against a people who just survived a genocide, is patently evil.

How on earth did you expect that no one would have accessed his/her accounts or withdraw from it in a war zone , if he had the chance? I mean with starvation as the biggest main instrument of the war? And how can you stipulate that even if its for withdrawals, once the accounts were used, it becomes frozen! for eternity!??

Explain that..

God dey shaa
And they want the lgbos to be highly patriotic when they have not repented from the wickedness

Today where are those companies they took over.

Can you imagine the wicked, draconian, selfish, inhumane and evil policy dished on Igbos by Awolowo who was then the finance minister? They even went further to decree that their action will not be challenged in any court to further perpetuate their evil.

Awolowo is a pure definition of evil. The good thing is that his myopic reasoning and evil machinations NEVER stopped the great Igbo Nation from making progress. Am sure he will be gnashing his teeth in the hottest part of hell seeing that those he planned to wreck and annihilate have come up to buy his ancestral lands, and are leading in all human, social and economic development indices.

Little wonder his biased free education to his kinsmen yielded no dividends visibly today.
He died a shameful death too.

He fell from from his bathtub and hit his amala head on the edge that was it.

Awolowo indeed.

This thread should be on the front page so that all those born after 1970 in this kwantiri, can see things for themselves and make their personal conclusions.

This is a serious historical topic. It's not pandering to Biafra or to any group. It is just stating facts the way they are with verifiable sources too. So why are we dragging our legs here..?

Upside down reasoning fueled with severe victimhood complex and your bitter war loss is what will not make you reason sensibly.

Biafra was awash with stolen and confiscated Nigerian Pound notes that Ojukwu and his war criminals had appropriated to themselves.

Ojukwu had passed a decree in 1968 outlawing the Nigerian Pound notes which he forced your foolish war generation to exchange for his worthless Biafra pounds note.

Ojukwu's war criminal policy had a policy of looting banks across the Midwest and the then eastern Nigeria of all Nigerian Pound notes.

As at the close of 1968, there was hardly any Nigerian Pound notes in the hands of ordinary citizens in what was left of Biafra. Rather all the Nigerian Pound notes had been looted by Ojukwu and his war criminals . Ojukwu fled Biafra in a 12 seater private jet full of Nigerian Pound notes. Not one single person from his cabinet , family members , girlfriends or whatnot was on that plane with Ojukwu only him and his stolen Nigerian Pounds in the millions.

This was what neccesitated the change of currency and the barring of any individual with substantive amounts in exchanging Nigerian Pounds for the new Naira.

So if you don't know now, know that Awo was even magnimous to even dash your mumu grandparents £20 each

Let the mods post the report on the front page.

It is a news report with verifiable source. Not my opinion, so chill. And you must chill. Let the public make their own conclusions.

Stop your desperate attempts to sway the minds of the reading public.
The decree itself is nothing but a monument to infamy.

They hyjacked the bank account of a people that survived ethnic cleansing, and now their sons are over here barking like some dying hyenas.

As at 1968, having Nigerian Pounds in one's possession was a crime in Biafra land.

No single ordinary biafran had Nigerian Pound notes in their possession.

All the confiscated Nigerian Pound notes plus those stolen by Biafran rogue forces from Nigerian Banks was in the hands of Ojukwu and his war criminal cabinet.

How did your foolish grandparents got hold of Biafran pounds if not that they were compelled by Ojukwu's decree to have it exchanged for worthless biafran pounds.

You can continue crying online the truth is all that loot ended up in ojukwu's hands and that of his war cabinet members and with just a stroke of the pen, Awo turned it all to worthless notes.

You are one ijiot on steroids. You're obviously pontificating on an issue way above your pay grade. A decree banned all accounts that has been operated in a war zone, in anyways during the war and you are here trying to sell dog poo as candy. The evil decree in question includes withdrawals! So what's your sterile point?

Pray tell me, how possible is it for anyone in a war zone to refuse withdrawing from his accounts? A people facing starvation. Most igbos living in the south south areas, ran into the hinterlands on few minutes notices, obviously without a lot of personal belongings. This happened mainly at the early stages of the war. So why ban every accounts?

This is what we are chasing here: Explain to us what Gowon and Awolowo meant by "not operated in any manner". Are withdrawals not part of "any manner" of operating a bank account? So what are you yapping about money printed by Ojukwu?

If they were talking of accounts pre May 1967, does that not tell you that they were talking of accounts before the war? Do you even know when the war started? Are we talking of accounts opened post Biafra or accounts opened before Biafra?
Noisy thing

In a decree just published in Lagos, the government says the banks may however honour as par any deposit accounts maintained before May 31, 1967, but not operated in any manner between that date and January 12 last year.

Lol! Look at this criminal from hell! Haven't you heard or read about it? Your forebears, right from the days of the evil and highly treacherous Mr Azikiwe,Ironsi,Ojukwu, etc, are responsible for everything that's wrong with Nigeria today! Go and read up,boy! You'll only discover that the evil your progenitors sowed yesterday is what is hunting you fools- the descendants- today!

See who is talking about the disrespect for the Nigerian passport, lol! Who is responsible for it? Perhaps we need to ask you why almost half of your entire population are languishing in various prison yards all over the world? Who are those criminals from a certain region of Nigeria with a global reputation for crimes of all sorts - drugs trafficking, armed robbery, human trafficking, etc? You think we don't know the exact "Nigerians" that the South Africans, Malaysians, Indians , Cambodians, Ghanaians, Vietnamese, etc don't want in their respective countries? Even as Nigerians,we don't want you around us too - criminal economic migrants from hell!

Before you even mock the Nigerian economy, why don't you do something about the economy of your tiny, erosion-ravaged,barren land of criminals that all of you are running away from? Fool! You can't stay in your native land and here you're mocking the economy of Nigeria! You keep running away from your native land, and you think you're in a position to mock anyone?! Your poverty stricken people keep arriving here in droves as if some demons are chasing you idiots away from your own land! Hundred of Ekene Dili Chukwu and Young Shall Grow buses have arrived here in Lagos today alone!

Abeg! Crawl back into whatever primitive hole you came out from and remain as dumb as you're already there! Mtchew, bunch of irritating, loud, highly disrespectful, uncivilized cannibals from hell! You dey ment!
