Please, is it advisable to go and check whether the passport is ready, since some people are getting it faster now.
or do I need to wait till the tracking shows "passport issued" ticked?

You can go and check, I've received mine but the passport issued is yet to be ticked.

Pls ooo should I go with file while going for biometric?

Because my collection date is tomorrow and I captured on Wednesday

Good morning all.

Please I need your assistance. My mum used to have an old passport and we wanted to get another one for her, so we contacted someone and we paid, she was captured and awaiting collection. I received a call yesterday from the agent that they queried it because she was once issued passport hence she should not have applied for fresh passport but re-issue. The agent said , we need to start all over again that they have cancelled the application that i need to pay another money.

The name on her old passport is different from the name on the NIN which she used to do her new application.

Can someone please advice me on what to do .

You first need to obtain a sworn affidavit of birth from a High Court and then head to the nearest National Population Commission (NPC) office in the state where you reside to begin the process of obtaining the official birth certificate.

Is there a need to still go to the NPC office for the hard copy or I can print the soft copy and present during capturing?

A soft copy of your birth certificate is not a bad idea but I would suggest that you go to the NPC office for the hard copy (just) to be on the safe side.

When did you do your capturing? Because the collection date on the slip they gave me after capturing on sept 2nd 2024 is actually November 25th 2024. Thanks for your response in advance.

They said I will be called when is ready.

So Warri centre only request for payment receipt, appointment slip and application form.

They didn't request for birth certificate, Nin or local government of origin.

Visit the SERVICOM office within the Passport Office you selected... Go with the required documents. SERVICOM should resolve your issue.

Once they know it's DIY they would treat you really bad that's what happened to me,because mine was not approved even servicom there refuse to answer me they just said I should dropped my paper I had to send a mail to immigration before 2hrs it was approved they were ashamed wen I came back that it's approved...Crazy Set of people there

Requirements for Fresh Passport
Adult (18 years and above)

Letter of identification from local government/state of origin or residence.

Completed passport application form.

Marriage certificate (If you're a married Nigerian woman).

Birth Certificate (certificate issued by the
National Population Commission shall be required from applicants whose date of birth is with effect from Dec 1992) or Age Declaration attached with one passport-sized photograph and duly endorsed by a Commissioner for Oaths.

Acknowledgement Slip and Evidence of Payment.

Based on the upward review of the fees for the Nigerian passport effective from 1st September 2024, 32-page Passport booklet with 5 year validity previously charged at thirty-five thousand naira (₦35,000) is now fifty thousand naira (₦50,000) only; while 64-page passport booklet with 10 year validity which was seventy thousand naira (N70,000) is now one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) only.

Yes I have. Thank you for answering my questions. I did self-service modification after paying for police extract. It took hours of trying in futility before I was finally able to do it. I had to constantly remind them in mail until they approved it. I felt so relieved. Onto the next!

@Graced1 thanks alot, I just noticed by birth certificate bears a name I don't use, and it doesn't appear on any of my documents, how do I rectify it
