So it is in Canada that 26M will go a long way for a married man, his wife and son? Ths same Canada we see posts about on Reddit, Instagram and Twitter? That Canada? huh
oga traveling out is just like marriage

Those who are enjoying it won't shout, na people wey no dey enjoy go cry n it will give a false impression that everyone isn't enjoying it

26 million will not do student visa?

U people should calm down abeg
OkanlawonB:
That 26M naira is more than enough to do Student Visa for Germany and Austria with the possibility of finding a course of study with English as language of instruction.
block account for a single person to Germany is 11,900 euros. Thats like 21m. Now imagine this person has a wife and child 🥴

POF required for a family of 3 for Canada's express entry is 22,483 CAD which is more or less the 26m naira he has. That money won't go far on student visa (it's literally the equivalent of 1 year tuition in some schools) and with all the speculation and instability surrounding student visas nowadays, he's better off applying for permanent residency. If not for any other reason but to be free (relatively) from immigration control and have access to more opportunities.

Hence, I'd advise he studies the express entry program very well, decides what category he or his wife can fit into, work towards meeting the requirements for that category. It might take a year but if well planned, will pay off greatly. In Canada, they will have to upskill/reskill/do whatever it takes to adapt and position themselves well. It won't be easy and it will take a lot of time and patience but they have to play the long game and think of their future (plus that of their child). There are bridging programs available that help settle new PRs and they shouldn't be scared of going back to school if necessary.

The way Nigeria is going, 26m is quickly losing value and by the time it finishes, japa-ing would've become even more expensive. T-pain still has 7 years to rule.

One currency's millions is not even up to half of 100k in another currency. Quel dommage!

Except for those with a first class, graduated before a certain year and have a scholarship, the rest of the student applications to Germany from Nigeria takes at least 18 months to get an interview date, not the visa itself. (this is me being conservative).

That money is chicken change if you intend traveling abroad to start all over. That's just about $16,000. Not much at all

I really don't like to argue about things like this here cos what I know about nairaland is that they will always tell u d money isn't enough

If u say u need a bicycle n u have 30 million they will always tell u it's not enough

If I get that 26 million I won't even come here to ask questions n let them tell me it's not enough I will go to d plug direct

So to u just Dey play

This thing some of you do here, I don’t know if it’s discouragement or what, but you guys will always have something negative to say, even if someone mentions that they have 100m, you’ll be surprised when they tell you it’s not enough.

It’s the naira weak, yes.
Are countries tightening their immigration laws, yes.

We know all these, but c’mon 26m is still a reasonable amount of money, no matter how you want to twist it, and will get you into most universities in EU countries, unless you’re targeting the A-List countries like the US, Canada, UK.

Make we sha take am easy.

Hello all,

If you got 26 M naira tomorrow, do you stay or japa ? I have a friend who inherited 26 M with a wife and son. He has decided to stay. I can't see that money lasting more than 2 years with today's economy in naija.

Fellow nairalander, what would you do ? Stay and invest, or leave ?
Travel out with that 26m and start working abroad to raise 26m to save and come back to Naija again .
Isn't that madness

26M naira was not a small money 20years ago.

26M naira is not a small money today.

26M naira would not be a small money in 20 years time.

People can keep converting it to dollars to argue that 26M is a small money.

Social media no be reality.
Re: If Given 26 Million Naira; Stay Or Japa by Tolu2024(m): 3:47pm On Oct 10, 2024

One thing is getting the visa costs. The real money is tuition fee. On average in Canada, university tuition costs around $23,000 per year for international graduate students. We're yet to factor in accomodations, tickets and the rest.

The OP said the owner of the money has a business in Nigeria and he thinks he can expand his business with the 26M. So, let's support his decision.

Japa. The money will be an investment. With the constant decline of our economy, a menial job outside our shores will translate to huge sums here.
