Thank you very much for your input. Please, where can I get the card reader?
Here, people give electricians money to buy and fix it for them. It is very easy to fix though.

I think the people selling it are these guys selling electronics materials like, bulbs, cable

The image is the card reader... When your own units finishes, you give money to the person who is in charge of the meter to recharge for you

But one can go to the office and change the address na.
No, the meter is permanent in that building, if you're moving to another place, and you still can't share meter with other co-tenants, you'll need to apply for another meter. Every meter is tied to a certain building.

Why will he throw away nepa light. Wont the solar use inverter?
Not if the solar is working at maximum… the solar panels can be charging the inverter

Actually they are movable. I even sold mine to one of their meter engineers. Learnt it works within a specific area and can be moved from one place to another within the area.
That's a criminal offense

Anyone in Lagos can contact me for the installation of sub meter at 18k excluding the cost of transportation.
With this, your power consumption can be calculated and monitored

On the contrary, I think you are the one whose level of understanding and reasoning needs to be questioned

So when you go looking for a house to rent, you also start checking whether the landlord lives in the same building, and how many hours the existing tenants spend at home?

C'mon man, that's crazy
What you don't know/understand, you keep shut and observe. You lots commit the error of seeing issues from your end only. In other words, what you don't have an idea/experience of, is automatically a blatant lie, false or not possible...

What does my qualification got to do with this ...I graduated with a second class lower , so what ?

What difficult for you to understand people can be wasteful even if they are spending few hours at home.

Meanwhile , someone who stays at home from morning till Night fit nor still consume much electricity... Probably just charging fone and sleeping l.

So finding a house where all the neighbors get 9-5 job because of NEPA bill sounds dumb.
@the bolded; no wonder..

I'm only responsible for my write up, not your comprehension...

Why will you take it from the rent when you can buy your own meter, register it in your name and it becomes yours so that when you leave, you can take it with you?

@OP, there is no way to calculate how much you power you use at this point, your best bet is to go get your own meter and register it in your name. This becomes yours and you can replicate it if/when you move out. You don't even need the landlords permission for this

Thanks so much.
Trendy247:
Yes it's a criminal offense to take it along with you while parking out. The best thing to do is to negotiate with the landlord so you guys can deduct from your rent.

One of the reason it is prohibited is that you can move a meter from a band C area to a band A area, thereby paying low electricity bills while enjoying Band A supply.

Yes, the single phase is the one you use alone in your apartment, while the double phase is the one that could be shared that op was talking about.
Re: Tenants On One Prepaid Meter, How Do You Share Electrity Bills? by Love800(m): 8:32pm On Oct 03, 2024
Okay.
It means you included the money in your rent. That is, you are deducting the meter money from rent, abi?
FireUpNow:
It means calculate the cost, meet with your landlord then discuss about the the cost of the meter and stay in the apart for the period the money you used in getting the meter and stay for the period it the amount covers in rent

It's possible to use solar without inverter by working directly with DC current supplied by the solar panels, but is almost impossible to use solar for normal domestic use without some sort of battery storage. Solar pumps can be uses directly without inverter or battery though. It's just that you will not have water if the sub refused to come out at all for the whole day.

There is an inverter. The system is just not big enough to power big appliances like irons, pumping machines, and freezers.

Try do illegal for night only then you settle nepa with small amount, saves money for example that's what is been done and some nepa officials help some people to connect illegal too

It's illegal to move meter. No DISCo allows that.

He can only go for separation, create his own account and it'd be in the name of the house. The best thing is to buy and deduct from his rent, that's on agreement with the landlord.

Under which DISCo are you?

Just get someone from the enforcement or people who prevent energy theft. He'd come with a clamp and take the load when everything is on(yours and his), then he'd take the load when only his own are on, take too when only your own are on. From this, he can get the per hour consumption, band A rate and what you can pay monthly.

We calculate number of units per items we have (tv, fan, iron, etc) and bill each tenants. We contribute money and ask Papi Ebuka to go and pay at NEPA office
In the 1980s, guys like Papi Ebuka would spend the contributed NEPA bill and would give excuses for not producing the receipts for payments until the following week when NEPA officials would come to disconnect the power supply and cart away the wire, throwing the whole house into darkness. Then fight would start and everybody would start complaining against Papi Ebuka especially when they return home after a hard day at work , to sleep in mosquito infested rooms in darkness.

When NEPA restore light to the street ,with neighbours shouting up NEPA, but this house still in darkness, some younger co-tenants would become restless and start cursing Papi Ebuka. The following morning, Papi Ebuka would go to Nonso or Baba Muri's Shop to borrow #500 to pay the NEPA bill.
After this payment, NEPA would request for #50 reconnection fees (which was a huge amount of money in 1988) but the tenants would start arguing that it is Papi Ebuka that should pay but the guy man would turn a deaf ear and this may make angry and rude co-tenant like Ismaila or Broda Mike, to want to fight Papi Ebuka.

And tenants from the surrounding buildings would come to the compound to settle quarrel.

In the process, Chief Sylvester who lives opposite the house but has two shops at Idumota , may offer to pay the #50 reconnection fees.

The following week, while Papi Ebuka is yet to return from his chemist shop, Chief Sylvester would be making gestures at Mama Ebuka and trying to convince her, on how he could take better care of her than Papi Ebuka.Because there wasn't Hand phones then, these kinds of discussions were often done physically but in the process, Iya Amina ,the operate grinding machine at the next house would see the Chief talking with bedroom voice with Mama Ebuka a cross the road and boom, she would leave her house which doubled as her shop to trek 30 mins to Papi Ebuka's chemist shop to gossip with him about the brewing illicit relationship between Chief Sylvester and Mama Ebuka.

Papi Ebuka, would thank Iya Amina. Who would sit down to relax and used the opportunity to explain her backache medical conditions to Chemist Papi Ebuka. Then ,Papi Ebuka would say that 'this na serious condition o,but I fit give you ogbonge injection for inner room to cure it one time' and encourage Iya Amina to enter the inner cubicle in his Chemist shop which also doubles as his 'injection room'

As soon Iya Amina enter the inner cubicle, remove her wrapper to take the injection, the Devil would come into the play and one thing would lead to another, such that Papi Ebuka's diick would mistakenly enter the Pussy of Iya Amina ,in the inner cubicle. After 5mins, both would come out with Iya Aminat frowning her face as if unhappy about the 'mistake' that just happened but Papi Ebuka would console her , offer her a bottle of chilled 7-up or Mirinda with #20 to use as transport fare back home. And at that time ,i was a small boy sent on errand by Uncle Timo Shenko to buy amala at the junctiin and branch at Papi Ebuka's chemist to buy Tetracycline (commonly used to treat diarrhoea in those days), i was waiting at the counter for Papi Ebuka to come out and sell medicinesfor me ,when my preying eyes saw the two of them coming out from the inner cubicle in awkard positions.
Papi Ebuka would offer me 'condensed' which was a kind of home made ice cream tied in small bulbs of transparent nylon bags,in subtled attempts to bribe me because he knew that I saw what just transpired . He would also tell me that he has just bought a new football for Ebuka(his son who is my play and primary school classmate) and that I should be coming more frequently to their compound to play football. And this subtle bribes often worked because I wouldn't disclose the matter to anyone until over 30 years later, by which time the viscitudes of life has made me to understands that sometimes, shit happens amd what happens in Vegas ,still in Vegas.

...This was a typical 'trenches life' of Lagos in the 1980s.

You have a good experience doesn't mean you have to negate other people's experiences. I just moved from my former apartment, and I instructed the agents not to get an apartment where the landlord resides. I saw shege at the hands of my old landlady. How will I be having issues cos I bought foodstuffs in bulk and I didn't buy petty stuffs from her. Spiritual attacks nkọ? How can you explain why tenants that came into the apartment leave at the same time after the first year rent expires.

I ran for my life.

Not all houses are good and it also depends on the kind of house you rent... Do your feasibility studies well.
I pray good landlord comes your way.

Coming from someone who can't afford to buy an empty land in an undeveloped area.

If you ever manage to build your own house , after you are done , pack you and your family and go and live in the gutters just to avoid eye contacts with your tenants... nonsense

I live with my landlord, he's an akwa ibom man... No problem , no issues ... He bought and installed meter for each flat...he fixes most of the compound stuffs like pumping machine etc with his own money...he has a lawyer who represent him in handling rent matters...

It a 3 bedroom flat in apapa, so yes , you can live with your landlord and not even know he exist if you abide by rules.
