🙏. I don't get the 40-year old man part but thanks anyways - I appreciate your responses. I will dig further into it
🤠

* Below is the current J1 VISA application procedure , which i believes applies to renewal.

1. APPLY FOR THE VISA

Once you have completed the DS-160, you can follow the instructions below to schedule an interview appointment. Remember that it is not necessary to register in the Visa Information Service or pay any fees. If your visa is approved, the consular officer will tell you how to pick up your visa passport.

* Fill out the DS-160 application form. Check that your program number begins with G-1, G-2, G-3, or G-7

2. EMAIL US at LagosNIV@state.gov

with the following information and attachments to schedule your interview:

USE THIS SUBJECT LINE: V66 - FULL NAME - USG PROGRAM
Full Name (as listed in passport)
Date of interview
Passport number
Application number/barcode number (starts with AA)
Visa type
Program dates

3. WHAT TO BRING TO THE INTERVIEW

Valid passport
Visa application confirmation sheet
DS-2019
5×5 cm front photo with a white background

Hello
Please my F1-20 form was sent yesterday alongside with my acceptance letter. There's a place for me sign and date. I was advised to print it, sign and write the date immediately I print it cos after 14 days the portal will be closed and I won't have access to it. I have printed it today and signed. Am I supposed to upload it back to the school Website or what ? Cos I didn't see where to upload it.
Please I need a clarification.
🤠

1. Acceptance /Offer letter always come before Form- I20 and that (offer letter ) is what you are supposed to date-sign and return back to the school ( via your admission portal or via email), indicating that you have accepted the offer and wants to continue with the VISA process, after which your Form I 20 will be shipped or sent electronically (via email).

2. As for the Form I-20, yes you are supposed to date-sign it too, but you are not require to send it back to the school ( though some school might ask otherwise) , you are only supposed to date-sign before taking it to the embassy on your appointment day, and your form- i20 is supposed to be sent to your personal email, so that you can reprint it as many time as you want.

PS: Email your admission counselor for accurate instruction or screenshot the message to the public for proper guidance.

🙏

Hello everyone

I'm quite new on this thread, still reading the old thread but I just thought of asking just in case anyone has an answer.

I'm searching for universities with funding, I studied business administration with a first class(2018) and I have 3years experience in the HR field. Any information on scholarship would really help

I have been using Google and YouTube to search but while I still continue my search, I would appreciate any information on universities with funding

Thanks in advance

Did you also open a new profile, did you get an email that the pre-approval request for the one of Lagos was rejected? Please the sheer lack of information is really disturbing about those who applied for Lagos?

1. The cost of study , accomodation, etc must have followed your acceptance e-mail, except if you are not the one handling the application yourself. There is also, your assigned admission officer/counselor, who usually communicates the school's mind to you (you can ask him or her), and lastly, don't you have an admission portal ? Your portal also explains your admission progress, and the next steps.

2. You cannot upload or send your financial statement to your host - institution, except if you want your Form- I 20 to indicate you as the funder (self-sponsor). Ask your funder (sponsor) to prepare the equivalent (in Naira) of your 1 - year tuition in bank statement, for you to forward to your host-school.

3. They will verify and calculate your bank statement , and if satisfied, email or courier your I -20 to you.

🙏
Thanks for this reply but please lastly you mean getting the visa or i20 form won’t be easy if I’m sponsoring myself? Please I need an answer to this because I’m practically sponsoring myself thanks 🙏

Kindly assist with what I should do, if I want to delete and start all over which includes paying another mrv fee.

sHarmony, deees, basically you do not delete the old profile because you can’t. You create a new DS-160, choose the location that you want this time, and submit. Go to avit, use a new email to create account. At the point where you’re filling your details after they activate your username, change some information
Like phone number ba and address?

1. I will chose any Public (government owned) institution over the private ones every time. The USA consulars also think, that paying tuition fee in American public institutions is a big task for majority of foreign applicants (especially from developing nations) , now comparing the scenario with paying tuition fees in private institutions (which are always double or triple in studentship charges). The only exemption is when you have full fundings or you are from a very wealthy family or sponsor.

2. The best category of F1- VISA applicant whose dependency VISAS (F2) is usually considered as reasonable is a PhD application.
MSc F1-VISA applicant, who is applying straight-away with the nuclear-family is not highly recommended. *. Are you an MD/CEO who is going on full sponsored trip by your organisation? * Are your wife and daughter in danger at home ? * Are you a very wealthy business man who just wanted to create VISA opportunities for his family ? Is your daughter in the University or not in school yet? Is your wife not working ?

3. Those are the questions in the mind of the assigned VISA team, the moment you submitted your VISA application (DS-160). Also, remember that you must prove ties to Nigeria, and your best ties are those wife and kid you want to travel along with.

PS: Your planned trip is possible, yes, very few MSc applicants has done it before, however with reasonable and and highly convincing applications.

PS: If your wife does not work , and daughter not in school , then nobody have any ties, so you can all just migrate. If they have their own commitments, why do you want to take them away for the whole duration of almost 2-years of study ?

You a single father right? Just create his own profile and chose the same interview date and time. Or better still, OyoTunjiUSA, hiw else can one make sure you attend interview together with your dependant son since it’s not possible to add them under your own profile this time

🤠

1. You will start another appointment scheduling (inside your AVITS profile) by clicking on " create new" and book appointment for your son (with his information ) same way you did yours. Both of you will have three (3) times of grace to reschedule your appointments, and you can use that option to target same date for both of you.

PS: Someone said you can raise a ticket with both appointments, asking the embassy to open same date for you as father and son, but this might just be an opinion.

[quote author=GboyegaD post=131956124]Hello!

I've paid my visa fee since September 9 and filled my details on usvisaappt.com, but I've been stuck on a page with a message "pre-approval request is being processed" since then. I chose Lagos in my DS-160. Do you think I can change to Abuja? If yes, please give me so.e tips on how to approach it.

I have called the embassy phone numbers and usvisaappt.com using click-to-talk and multiple emails. All they say is to wait.

Kindly help with any information that can help me. Thank you.

@oyotunjiusa kindly help, i paid my mrv fee before the portal was updated but i wasn’t able to schedule an appointment, since sept 7th i’ve not been able to fill anything or schedule an appointment, i’ve called and they said it’s a technical problem and they’ve not finished their migration process. on my dashboard it just shows me a pending appointment request and when i click on it i blank white screen.

what do you advise i do now? and how long does migrating data take? they also told me not to make new payments and i should give them time

Hey 🤠

1. The USA embassy gave directive and warnings, regarding the timeline to pay MRV before the update. They also gave deadline to pay physically at the bank and via GTB App.

2. In this respect , majority of those who paid before the update, paid at the eleventh hour and must have broken rules, hence, their inability to proceed smoothly with the appointment bookings.

3. However, any applicant who could not or did not have appointment before the update, either you paid legally or you paid at the eleventh hour, all have a WORST CASE SCENARIOS. Only those with previous appointments before the update, and the fresh applicants who are ready to pay MRV have a better hope of quick attention.

4. In your case, your dashboard is not supposed to display " PENDING APPOINTMENT REQUEST" Because you have old MRV payment receipt which can never be used to initiate your new appointment, unless , you have received an acknowledgement email from the embassy or activation email.

@Timegreat31

* Yes ,you can cancel your pending appointment or the pre-approval request , and start all over again , and you should be able to change location since you have not gotten a final date. Do not worry about DS-160. You can always fill another DS-160 to match the new location (embassy post).

PS: Majority of the F1 VISA applicants, who are complaining of one issues or the others, have complicated their issues themselves. Some did not have I-20 (and you are supposed to upload I-20 when requesting appointment), some have I-20 but they did not date-sign it. Some have not even paid SEVIS fee, which makes you a complete F1 VISA applicant in the context of the USA embassy.

PS: Although, all these challenges is being caused by the the update , which is still ongoing , as well as the over popular of VISA applicants to under-staffs ratio, but yet, majority of VISA applicants are not following the appointment booking procedure in the right ways. If you want to raise a ticket , do so with your ; (1). MRV payment evidence .(2) Date-signed Form -I20. (3). SEVIS fee payment receipt.

Best Wishes 🙏

I will advise you to look for an undergraduate degree program. Please do not go to the embassy with a diploma acceptance letter. The consular will not view you as a genuine, bona fide student with admission to a diploma program or community college. Unless, of course, you want to waste the visa fees.
