Hello Nairalanders, I was just reading through the book of Luke and I came across a passage that discussed how the holy Spirit came upon Elizabeth and also how the holy Spirit came upon Mary. I had always believed that the holy Spirit did not come upon anyone until Jesus Ascension, so what exactly is the book of Luke talking about when he said the holy Spirit came upon Elizabeth and also upon Mary. Please I need a detailed explanation to help my understanding. |

Update147:That you ‘believed’ something without having proper understanding doesn’t mean it was true. In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit came upon people for special purposes and task for example David and Samson. |

Update147:Your assertion @bold part is wrong and not scriptural. The Holy Spirit has been at work since THE CREATION. What happened is that selected people were empower by Holy spirit for specific assignment. After ascension of Jesus and for the continuity of Christ global message, the Holy spirit as promised by Yahweh in Joel is now available for those who are of Christ. |
