Make we leave am for them. They say it is their cultural heritage. That is corrugated iron sheets! I don't know how "corrugated iron sheets" became the cultural symbol of a typical subsaharan African society. I mean, we did not invent that thing, neither do we even have any indigenous company producing that. .

One was giving me an example with Venice the other day; "Its the heritage of our ancestors, bla bla bla.., can't you see the old buildings in Venice? It is the same with ibadan"!!! Abasi mbok! I just don't want to talk. All i know is that at the core of cultural stagnation is a society vigorously waging a relentless jihad against change.

When they want to show pictures of Ibadan, they won't show the new part, it's only the old brown roofs area that they will show.

grin ... that's why they hold onto Lagos like their lives depend on it.. 😂 ... 🤦🏾‍♂️

Remove lagos as former FCT, nothing to write home about... the entire region looking like the epicenter of the civil war... 🤦🏾‍♂️

You are trying to communicate to people that were probably living on trees in 1970… everything to them is bitterness and hatred and they cannot reason with you

Having an ancient city is not new in any part of the world.

I was in Boston recently, they have some ancient buildings people are still living there till date. Buildings of over 100 years old.

This is Dorchester in Boston, 1911 vs 2024

That is even inclusive of the fact that they have never been exploited, marginalized, faced genocide or scorched earth policies, no erosion, no earthquake,no war, no Nigeria policy of exclusion. Yet God in heaven denied them progress and left their land desolate.

Even Gaza strip that has been destroyed countless times is not this devoid of progress and growth

Mumu thats just a preview of an area, ibadan is an ancient city the looks must reasonate, however that does not mean there are no places or houses covered with gerard

Those are people ancenstral homes, and most children are guided not to alter the settings .... for those who dont know there are many new site/highbrow areas in ibadan, oluyole axis, alalubosa, soka, akala way e.t.c with standard modern houses

Lets just say there is nothing to sell about a Modern ibadan ko jà owo

Olodo

Those places are called "agbo ile" where every Ibadan son and Daughter have their ancestral homes. That is how it has always been. Most of those houses are over 100years old

My own agbo ile in Isale Alfa,Ibadan clocked 90 this year. My Grandfather built it in 1934.

Most of those houses are now.empty and those that are not empty are inhabited by people that live in them for almost free.

The Old part of the city and they shall be till the very end of time.

Remember this JP Clark's quote "Ibadan, running splash of rust and gold-flung and scattered among seven hills like broken China in the Sun"

P.S. You won't like to see the modern part which are more than the old part anyway because if you do,you won't be able to close your mouth

Even Jerusalem is an ancient city....

Do you not see how advanced it is today unlike how it would have been in the Pharisees days?
