Some of you guys are too mumuish. Even from the context, you should have known that the usage of innovation here is not the general meaning. Here, it means innovation in the matters of religion. Anything that is backed by the religious books is rebuffed else the religion will metamorphosis into sth entirely different within few decades.

Dear OP. What you don't know, you don't know. The innovation they're talking about is religious innovation. Islam prohibits bringing new inventions into the religion as Islam must be practiced based on the Sunnah ( i.e the way the prophet practiced his religion).
You should have asked why before posting this...

Even that one sef... how far back do you go to know what is considered new and what is not? Maybe 1969 or 2001 or maybe 10AD. Because religious ideology has seen gradual changes over time as the world became more global and technologicaly advanced

The reference point with regards to what is termed innovation in our religion has been the period of the life and time of our Holy Prophet (May Allaah continue to shower His blessings upon him).
There is nothing wrong with technological innovation unless when used for evil, and even at that, for me, it is the evil act itself that is evil not the device.

The group who owns that bus should have used the precise interpretation of the Arabic word 'bid'ah' as it concerns Islamic religion not just plain translation that they did which has caused misconception.

That's the izala Muslim sect in Nigeria. Of course for their ideology to be effective, their followers must shun innovation. Meanwhile they use all the modern gadgets in their activities.
