Asaba is an Igbo town on the Western bank of the River Niger. It is also capital of present day Delta State. It is made up of 5 communities : Umu-Onaje Umu-Ezenei Umu-Aji Umu-Agu Ugbomanta Originally, Asaba was known as "Ahaba" and was founded by a man known as Nebisi who led some people looking for greener pastures out of Nteje, in present day Anambra State, crossed the River Niger, settled there and gave the place the name "Ahaba"(where we choose). However, the first European missionaries who arrived in the town mistakenly wrote the name as 'Asaba', and the name has remained ever since On the 7th and 8th of October 1967, Asaba was to witness a gruesome massacre when the Nigerian Second division led by Lt Col Murtala Mohammed, and his second in command, Major Ibrahim Taiwo, entered the town. Many Asaba indigenes had fled as the Nigerian Army approached, those who stayed behind would witness violence on a scale that still haunts them to this day. In a desperate bid to preserve peace, some Asaba indigenes gathered themselves into groups and went out to welcome the Nigerian Army. Some Asaba indigenes also believed they would be safe as Asaba was not part of Biafra. Unfortunately for those who went out, and many others, the Nigerian Soldiers opened fire, killing many. In the days that followed, the Nigerian Army massacred Asaba people in places such as Okwe, cable point, Ogbe-Osewa. Men, women and children were mowed down by the bullets of the Nigerian Army. Mass graves were dug all over the town and people buried. While there is no official figures of the number killed, it is generally believed to be not less than a thousand people. Murtala Mohammed and Ibrahim Taiwo were never held accountable As fate would have it, 10 years later in 1976, Murtala Mohammed had become Military Head of State, while Taiwo had become Military Governor of Kwara State. Both men where gunned down in cold blood on February 13th 1976, during the Dimka coup Today, a monument stands in Asaba listing some of the people the 5 communities that make up Asaba lost in the Asaba Massacre

The most painful aspect of that massacre was that those men all came out DRESSED IN WHITE, symbolizing peace to welcome those soldiers and they were all murdered dressed in white |

What of entire communities in present day Edo, Rivers and Akwa Ibom that were wiped out by your biafran orcs? What of the thousands of minority young men who were murdered by your biafran orcs? Also, note that there was no Asaba massacre . Those rounded up and executed were Biafran deserters who had slipped into civilian clothing alongside their civilian collaborators. What of the thousands of minority people butchered in Biafran makeshift cells who ended up being eaten? Why did your Ojukwu gave the order that all minority communities that were about to fall to Federal Forces be "evacuated"? Where are the thousands of minority men, women and children that your biafran orcs removed from their homes ? What of the senseless murder of minority people killed by your biafran orcs and their bodies dumped in the creeks and rivers James Nwafor style? |

ChiefJusticeFuc:Stop speaking for minorities and trying to deflect with minorities, your evil Nigerian army shed innocent blood, whether they were biafrans soldiers or not, they surrendered and should never have been murdered gruesomely in cold blood. You people are evil |

gidgiddy:Wickedfact was busy the other day lying to us about how Biafran soldiers, killed ikwerre people. And this is what yruba agents of lies and propaganda always do whenever the issue of ikwerre being Igbo is raised. These propagandists and agents of division always lie, against Biafran soldiers and what they did during the war. But these same agents will never tell you the atrocious acts of the Nigerian army in Asaba and other places such as present day Akwaibom state. |

babasolution:Banza, I am a bonafide SS man . Your biafran army committed the most brutal and most barbaric war crimes on hapless civilians . Your biafran war criminals specifically targeted non Ibos in both the Midwest and defunct Eastern region for elimination and they had the backing of your so-called Bendel Ibos. The Ikwere final rejection of Ibos was because the Ikwere refused to assist your cannibal militia in killing , raping and eating minority people. To show how fake this whole useless Asaba massacre is, why is there no recollection by you Ibos of Nigerian Federal forces repeating same genocide on Ibo communities in your cannibal Biafra ? There was no genocide in Asaba nor a massacre. It was merely a public execution of captured Biafran desserters who had slipped out of their uniforms. The penalty for such is instant execution as any combatant who can not identify himself via their uniform is considered a spy and the penalty for being captured as a spy is instant death. Why were there no war crimes tribunal on men and officers of the Nigerian Federal forces? |

Zonefree:The Biafran cannibal militia war crimes are well documented in places like Port Harcourt, Bonny , Warri and Benin. Why did Ibo civilians flee back into their SE enclave with federal forces advancing ? The answer is simply because the occupation of the minority lands and brutal suppression and oppression of the minority people were carried out by both biafran soldiers and Ibo civilians. What led to the abandoned property saga in places like Port Harcourt and Calabar if not because Ibo civilians who had participated in war crimes knew they would have faced severe backlash . Go and read up on the mini pogroms targeting Ibos that occured in places like Benin and Warri after federal forces drove your orc army out. Why would the peaceful and neutral minority people suddenly become anti Ibo ? Go and read up on how women of the Biafran army were displaying the limbs and heads of murdered minority peoples in places like Port Harcourt in a parade around town while chanting Ibo war songs . The real war criminals were you Ibos who committed immeasurable and uncountable brutal war crimes on minority people. If you are looking for a real genocide, there's a riverine community in Rivers state that annually celebrates their liberation from the hell hole known as biafra. That community lost over 10,000 of their people who were forced out of their lands and never seen again. |

ChiefJusticeFuc:I don't know what time you think the Nigerian Army that started to shoot down unarmed civilian almost as soon as they got in Asaba, took to find out who was a deserter or enemy collaborator, but let's assume the above was true Let's assume that the Nigerian Army rounded up deserters and collaborators and shot them in Asaba. Under the Geneva convention and the Rome statu, this is genocide, murder and a war crime. A Soldier is not even permitted to kill even a captured enemy Soldier. The only time Soldiers can kill Soldiers is during active combat, not after capture. Muritala Mohammed and Ibrahim Taiwo were war criminals for what they permitted in Asaba. But the harsh reality is that despite what Muritala Mohammed did, he has Airports, highways and buildings named after him. He was even put on the N20 note, an honour that countries give to their best citizens And yet Muritala Mohammed, was just a notorious coup plotter, military dictator and a war criminal. Tells you a lot about where Nigeria is as a country |

gidgiddy:Under the Geneva convention any enemy combatant that can not identify himself properly with the right uniform and insignia is considered a spy. And what is all this talk about genocide? This was simply a public execution to serve as warning to the Asaba people who collaborated with Biafrans to genocide non Ibo tribes in Nigeria. Go and read up on the Midwest Military Governor appealing to non Ibo tribes in places like Benin and Warri to stop attacking Bendel Ibos The military Government even created a rehabilitation fund raised from voluntary donations by Midwest Civil Servants for displaced Bendel Ibos. You should be asking why non Ibo people in Midwest just as those in the liberated coastal enclaves, suddenly became anti Ibo following the Biafran occupation of their land. |
| Re: Anniversary Of The Asaba Massacre -pics by Mbanda(m): 7:59am On Oct 08, 2024 |
ChiefJusticeFuc:Oga where is it documented that Biafra orcs, killed minority tribes? Have you forgotten that Ojukwu's second in command came from the same minority tribes, you claim Biafran orcs massacred. |
| Re: Anniversary Of The Asaba Massacre -pics by ChiefJusticeFuc: 8:02am On Oct 08, 2024 |
Mbanda:There are several neutral sources that attest to biafran soldiers and Ibo civilians going on rampage in the occupied territories and the good thing is that all sources are direct from minority peoples recollection. Have you asked why anti Ibo sentiments still remain very strong in the SS more than even your hated SW and northern regions ? |

ChiefJusticeFuc:These are people we share country with. People who call the shooting of unarmed men, women and children who came out to welcome the Nigerian Army 'public execution' |

Mbanda:During an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo in 90MinutesAfrica, Professor Akpan argued that the Biafra narrative shaped by most Igbo writers over time was one-sided because it painted the Igbos as innocent victims of the civil war. “In the riots that engulfed the north, at least a third of those killed were minorities. No one tells that story. It is always the Igbos who were killed in the north. The question now is: if both the Igbos and minorities were killed in the north, why were they not able to come back and form Biafra together? This is simply because even before the genocide in the north, the Igbos and the minorities were never together. Though they were all in the Eastern Region, the minorities always feel cheated," Professor Akpan reiterated. The award-winning author further stated that "the minorities did not want Biafra. The Igbos under Ojukwu went out of their way to block the creation of minority states. They imposed Biafra on minorities. The Ibos were thus engaged in two wars – fighting against big-time Nigeria and fighting against small-time minorities. The minorities were massacred by the Biafrans. A place in Sagbama in Ijaw land even has a festival celebrating the fact that they survived Biafra, and there are few other places like that in minority lands.” When the interviewer drew the attention of the Professor to the fact that some minorities supported the Biafra Republic, he acknowledged that there would always be individuals within the "colonised" who accept and are part of any "colonisation project". "Today, almost all Igbos say they want Biafra but have you heard the minorities say they want Biafra? You can mention individuals in the minority who would support Biafra, but there is no groundswell of support like you have in Igbo land. The minorities have not forgotten how they were massacred in Biafra. "The Western press did not cover the minority villages. In any case, there was some sort of understanding that if the Western press exposed what the Biafran soldiers were doing, Biafra would lose the little support it had," he said. "In researching for my book, I spoke to a lot of former Biafran soldiers, and they spoke about what they were told to do in minority lands. It was a mess. Biafra was a terrorist state, especially in minority land," the author emphasised. https://saharareporters.com/2022/11/26/minorities-nigeria-were-greatest-victims-biafra-republic-declared-late-ojukwu-us-based

gidgiddy:We share nothing and in due time you will be expelled to your Biafra enclave that will be limited to your Ibo states I am totally in support of Murtala's war time execution order of arrested rampaging biafran orcs and their civilian accomplices. And where was it documented that women were executed ? Also, you can't be preaching morality to me when you gleefully are in support of Israel genociding the entire Gaza population. |

The iconic photograph taken in 1968 of a South Vietnamese Officer executing a captured Viet Cong officer who had slipped into civilian clothing following the failed Tet Offensive. The photograph went viral across the globe at the time and is considered one of the iconic photos of the Vietnam war. The South Vietnamese Officer did not face any war crimes allegation because the Viet Cong officer was captured in civilian clothing and was fingered as part of a group of retreating Viet Cong officers and men who went on a retreating rampage targeting civilians This is the same scenario that played out with the whole Asaba fake massacre which was merely a repeat of the Saigon Execution but on a larger scale. Both Murtala and the South Vietnam officer were never accused of breaching war crimes because they didn't. Biafran soldiers were roaming villages , towns and even the bushes of Midwest stealing from, raping and killing civilians as they made their escape across the Niger.

ChiefJusticeFuc:This guy keeps showing war crimes as his excuse for Asaba massacre Article 13 of the Geneva convention Nigeria is signed up to, and is law says Article 13 Prisoners of war must at all times be humanely treated. Any unlawful act or omission by the Detaining Power causing death or seriously endangering the health of a prisoner of war in its custody is prohibited, and will be regarded as a serious breach of the present Convention. |

gidgiddy:To be a prisoner of war ,one must be a state combatant and must be identifiable in enemy uniform and hold documents identifying him to be part of the contingent. Mercenaries and spies are not covered under the Geneva convention. Your biafran orcs ditched their uniforms as federal troops made their advance into Midwest and went on a criminal spree across the land as they attempted to flee. Now go and find the definition of what or who the same Geneva convention defines as a POW. |

Proudly Umuagu. I see a lot of lies here but sincerely I will not waste my strength answering as this is a faceless forum. One thing I may add op is that many of the murderers died on the way back north along the river Niger as their boats capsized. According to folklore, they were punished by onishe, the sacred goddess of Asaba who is surrounded by ogbono trees. That is why till today, selling or eating of ogbono openly is forbidden in Asaba.
