Letdemsay02:Poverty might deal with you more if you failed to do what someone like you should have done earlier in your life. When I said "someone like you", I mean your background and family you found yourself. We are not all born with silver spoon but we can create a life for ourselves. Now you are 34yrs old, imagine you have enrolled yourself to a car mechanical or electrical or car painting training at the age of 18? By now, you must have completed or almost complete your own house by now, have a small car and a family. My advice is this: even at your age, enrol for a training and acquire a skill and have a change of life when you are 40. |

xperiencelove:you're right Sha. I should have learned a skill earlier. But when you think of the other side it wasn't really not my fault. Two weeks after my mom gave birth to me, she got separated from my dad. My mum struggle to take care of me and the rest of my siblings. When I was a little bit older she started passing me around her family members because the burden of taking care of 8 children was to much to bear so she had no choice. When I was 16yrs started living on my own. So i couldn't afford to learn a skill then, because I feed for myself, pay rent sponsoring my education then. Education was my priority then. That is why, I say maybe I took the wrong decision |

The saddest truth is realizing that hard work alone isn't enough. One question I ask when recommending a trade or career, whether to myself or someone else, is: "What is the most that the most skillful and talented person in this field has ever made or achieved?" Then I restructure my plans accordingly. Hustling without growth in any career is even worse, you'll just end up frustrated. I hope the Op can retrace their steps and make things right this time. In my opinion, you'll have to sacrifice more years to learn a skill and be smart about it. Start saving, and maybe distance yourself from your family if necessary. I truly hope things work out for you. |

Letdemsay02:Are you addressing the poster or me? First, I don't know how old you are or what level you are on anything, I am not actually interested, but one thing I do know is that you are not better off than all your age mated and all your age mated may not be better than you, any 50 year old person that gave up on life is a weakling, BTW there are millions of over 50 who are thousands of miles ahead if you in every single thing, who are better than you both financial, in intelligent and will do far better than you in bed with any woman and be everything that you can't be to that 20 year old girl you are talking about, that you say that a 50 year old man not married is a liability to those around him sums up your overall intelligent and maturity |

Letdemsay02:It is not too late. Take the above suggestion seriously and learn a marketable skill that will not require much capital to set up yourself. Most especially the type that can give you the opportunity to use the same skill to earn by the side (e.g Painting in which you can get small contracts, create time to do it and earn without causing issues with your oga). |

The future of many Nigerians born today in the next 20 to 30 years. Children will kill their parents for making them Nigerians then. |

uncleck:Most tradesmen in Nigeria will make more money being honest and reliable rather than being competent and dishonest. Honesty and reliability are rarities in Nigeria, so even dishonest people prefer them. |

ICTspecialist:Do you know that there are skills you can learn and perfect in six months? Do you know that there are skills that you can learn free of charge? Do you know that there are skills that, if you acquire them you can get your tools with less than 5k? Do you know that there are skills that, if you acquire them, your tutor will be hiring you until you start getting your own contracts? Do you know that there are skills that will allow you to set up your workshop inside your bedroom with minimal capital and be getting your clients online? How much does it cost to become property agent? Do you know that you can make money if you start posting other people's wares online? When you get a buyer you take them to the seller and get your commission. How much does it cost print on nylon bags and Tshirts? How much does it cost to learn and start making perfumes? How much does it take to learn how to Barb? Etc |

Letdemsay02:A family of EIGHT children? I am sorry but all parameters shows you were set up to fail right from birth. I doubt you were ever nurtured or even cared for. When we shout that people who give birth to too much children are perpetrating multigenerational poverty, ndi "be fruitful and multiply" will not allow us hear word. It is well. |

Letdemsay02:I keep emphasising it that having fewer children will do a lot of Nigerians good. It's the easiest way to fight poverty. Quality education comes next. It's why I don't oppose abortion or widespread of contraceptives. Even though low birth and marriage rates are being recorded across the developed world, I support people, especially women, delaying or letting go of childbearing rather than perpetuate poverty. If your mom had two children or max children, things would have been much better because the scarce resources would have been shared with each getting a bigger pie than for eight children. In today's Tinubulation, no family should have more than two children. Anything more than that, please have money. Raising children isn't cheap. https://www.nairaland.com/6035550/nigerians-poverty-certain-acts-perpetuate |

Clevagal:When you resort to violence and insult, you ALREADY lost, if you are a little more intelligent, all you would have tried to do is bring a superior argument if you think I am wrong and not resort to insults, those that start the way you do are those that are what you are trying to call me. You can still try to think up something reasonable, but I will not expect that because it takes brains to reason and apparently, you lack that. BTW, I stand by what I said and the person I was replying to seem to have taken one or two things from what I said but you? A retard |

Letdemsay02:^^^ No you are not. Each new day holds promise. Always remember that. Ignore that poster who is firing what he thinks are 'tough love' missiles at you - without knowing your mental state. He has no idea whether you are standing on a bucket with your head just under a noose while reading his comments. ![]() Concentrate on the other posts that actually gave practical ways to get back in the game. That's what you should focus on for now...and at the same time, build your mental strength back. Every man's mental and physical health has its ups and downs. Hope springs eternal. |

mbaise1000:^^^^ ![]() Millions? Where? Men who this very minute are probably taking their anti-hypertensives, blood thinners, anti-inflammatory drugs and assorted medicines to deal with the many ailments that come with getting on to the 'fifth floor'? Men whose bedside cabinets are probably bursting at the seams with cartons of Sildenafil - without which their 'equipment' will not 'rise' to the occasion? These are the men who are going to be 'everything' to some 20 year old girl who still has a lot of gas in her tank? ![]() It doesn't work that way. |
