I purchase this egg from spar and On getting home i saw the best before stamp on the egg. And i was like why would a mall like spar selling already spoiled egg.

I quickly boiled 2 eggs from it. And found out the york was not at the center of the eggs. As it was just off to the shell and I did research online

The eggs are too plenty. Maybe i should get half painter tomatoes and do egg tomatoes sauce and store them in refrigerator.

Consume them before the expiry date. E no too hard like that.

Oh? So what should they do with the crate that's 1 week before its best before date? They should throw it in the bin abi? Because they didn't use money to buy it... did they force it on you? Its up to you to do your due diligence and check the date before buying and if you are not happy with it, you leave it and buy elsewhere!

When it comes to buying eggs, it is best to buy from retailers (market women).
Asides the fact that they often carry/sell fresh eggs, you get to shake the eggs before buying.
Once they feel loose (like they're moving) on the inside, they're old (possibly rotten) eggs. Don't buy.
Fresh eggs don't move when shaken.

Everyone displays eggs a week before BB date. I hope you know BB date is different from expiration date. Even here in UK, you will see milk and eggs whose sell by date is next tomorrow, still in the big name stores. Just that they will do 30% off. By evening it will be 50% off. By a day to go they will pack them to community centers to dash to the poor. Nobody throws stuff away even here where they are cheap as chips. E come be for naija where a crate is over 6k... are the shops making 6k on the whole batch they sold that day? You people don't pity yourselves, you want the small business man to kill himself to please you. Again I ask, what should the stores have done? Throw it away?

Boil half of them. Boiled eggs last longer. And eat the rest before they expire.

If it's real egg and not something made in a laboratory, it won't expire any time soon.

The expiry date is a marketing ploy (consumerism) to sell more eggs to you sooner

when you boil fresh egg its has a kind of small especially the york. This one off men. How can we even tell the production date is what they states there.

That egg is already going bad considering i even bought them higher than the market value for a fresh eggs around.

If it's bad, then throw it away unless it's ok to return it

Return them and shout on them....they will change it for you

Why don't you simply refrigerate and eat your eggs—make pastries, or fry them up, etc., — before they go bad?

Do egg source
Cook moi moi
Bake bread
Egg will finish

Next time simply locate a local egg supplier in your area and buy your eggs from them.
Simple !!!

Was the price reduced, you tell me how he was supposed to eat those eggs within 1 week with the situation of things. Every sane store reduces the price of everything close to BB dates and it also a way to alert you. Pls don't act like you're the only one abroad, what is bad is bad. Plus the OP complained the egg has lost his quality already, so the BB inscription on it is also questionable.

I always advice my colleagues to be very careful when purchasing items in supermarket . Buying items like eggs is better in a market or retail shops that sells fast.
Don't be so carried away with the word "mall" or "supermarket". Some people think going to market will make them inferior. So, they see big supermarkets as a real deal.

Bought half painter tomatoes and other ingredients. Did egg sauce with half of the eggs.

Chia the odor nor follow at all. Taste even bad.

Throwing them away now.

Even wasting more money trying to recuperate the eggs. I just have to submit and count my lose. I will never buy a crate of eggs again. Just little little as needed.

Another thing i learnt when you break an egg the. Yolk should be firm and in the middle. If the yolk scatters the egg have gone bad.

If you want fresh eggs source from the poultry farmer or at least a retailer close to them!

You can warm the boiled egg in pepper sauce or fry with some garnishes like Geisha, Sardine, Peak milk, green peas and other vegees you love!

Rule number 2: never forget rule number 1

I bought this same egg from Jendol supermarket, my own no even spoil o, but damn, the price is way more than the one sold outside and it’s even smaller in size compared to the one sold outside for less the Jendol price.

Since then, I dare not!
