Anyways I have a specific egg brand that I buy from a reputable hypermarket. Don't know about you, but mistakenly consuming spoilt egg has egg me trauma so much that I literally vomit upon perceiving the smell. I'd say it again, I will return and change the brand or ask for a refund if it were me.

An egg with one week to it's BB is not a spoilt egg.

Even me too have experience with spoilt eggs,

Bought from local retailers, was breaking them in a plate and all was going good, then boom, broke the spoilt one and it messed up everything.

About 6 eggs wasted because of one.

It's a terrible experience with eggs.

Wetin I go do, on one experience, I went to complain, na sorry dem give me.

On another, I go bone, counted my loss and moved on.

BB means Best Before the indicated date. The eggs end are not expired.

Storage matters. Before the best before date it can already start degrading due to heat. Better to buy one with a close by date and the put in the fridge immediately.

If can bake cakes e.g cup cake and other varieties of cake .... Simply use the eggs for it....eat some the cakes and give the rest out . ..

As for the Op, he his just making an issue out nothing, I have a poultry farm and I can tell you for a fact that eggs, if stored properly away from heat have a long shelf life. Some local mama put canteen that sell boiled egg even prefer the old eggs because you can remove the egg easily from the shell without it losing it form compared to fresh eggs.

Return it back at the place... that's how it's done anywhere in countries inhabited by sensible humans.
Every item are meant to be returned if there is tangible reasons to do that.

You are confusing best before date with expiry date

Best before date is the date until when the manufacturer can guarantee the product's freshness. After that date, it is still safe to eat but the manufacturer cant guarantee it will still be fresh.

Expiry means do not eat after that day because the product is expected to have gone bad.

Does the egg appear bad, smell bad, or watery? If not, its definitely safe to eat.

Everyone displays eggs a week before BB date. I hope you know BB date is different from expiration date. Even here in UK, you will see milk and eggs whose sell by date is next tomorrow, still in the big name stores. Just that they will do 30% off. By evening it will be 50% off. By a day to go they will pack them to community centers to dash to the poor. Nobody throws stuff away even here where they are cheap as chips. E come be for naija where a crate is over 6k... are the shops making 6k on the whole batch they sold that day? You people don't pity yourselves, you want the small business man to kill himself to please you. Again I ask, what should the stores have done? Throw it away?

Instead of throwing the bad eggs they should sell it like that because it cost them 6k abi? Why don't you come back from the UK and come and start buying rotten eggs in Nigeria.
