BlueRayDick:Dey play ![]() You think I will waste my time with those 1.07 odds. Where do I even have the time to be accumulating 100 matches just to get 30 odds. Minimum odd per match will be 1.50. I need the fewest matches possible. And just to be clear, I'm not saying I will make money or I will win. There's a good possibility I'll lose all the 30k. I'm only saying, win or lose, no matter the circumstances, I will only do it max of once a week as planned and will not return to it once the season ends. |

Theflint1:And that's the point I was making. If you treat it as leisure, have a plan, stick to it, control your emotions, you can do it without getting addicted. BlueRayDick is saying the high that comes with winning or the impulsive need to chase losses cannot be controlled. I disagree. |

Itsrm:See let's set the terms of this thing before u start. The whole Idea is for me to prove that even if u have plans to limit ur risk to a particlular threshold every weekend, u will still arrive at a final end which is: U will lose all the money in due time. The only way not to do that is for u to quit. That is what I have been saying all these while. Whatever financial discipline rule u may think u want to follow, I have walked that path before and I realized the only way out is to not bet at all; that's how u don't lose money in betting. That's the reason why I quit, it's not like I don't win when I was betting. I literally used betting winnings to fund my journey to NYSC back then. I don use betting money do birthday before. I've had enough motivation to keep betting, but I know it's a game u are never going to defeat the bookies in the long run. Wheher u bet on 1.01 odds or 2.00 odds, u will still arrive at a point where u will lose all ur capital. It is just a matter of time. Do u think people that always lament " Wetin we wan play again? we don bet play first yellow card, first throwing , goal-goal, etc and ticket still " are not risk conscious or they don't have plans? na betting chop dem turn dem to Jeremiah wey dey write lamentations o. |

Itsrm:The whole Idea of going into betting is to gain by winning whether u are treating it as leisure or not. Utility is the satisfaction u derive from the purchase of goods & services. Of what use is betting and not winning? If u want to be throwing ur money away , that's definitely no fun. |

OasisX:I remember prior to the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of currency a lot of policy analysts were actually in support because it's good for opposition politics calling the subsidies fraud now that the policy they advocated for have now pauperized the people they're here singing another song. |

BlueRayDick:Na the koko be this, anything else is throwing money away casually...without creating the conditions necessary for an addiction, a break in pattern, and/or potential loss of capital as predicted, the experiment is invalid. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Itsrm(m): 11:46am On Oct 10, 2024 |
BlueRayDick:I get your point. What I'm saying is a mindset that sees money lost during betting as the same as money lost watching a music show or watching football at a viewing centre. It can be argued that those other activities give value for money compared to betting. However, the fun, thrill and adrenaline rush that comes with betting plus the added benefit of financial reward is also value. You then highlighted the problem of addiction and I said I have absolute control over my emotions. Win or lose, I stick to the plan. While I want to win money, I am acknowledging the fact that even if I lose, the 30k is no different from the 30k nihilist will spend buying white london over the course of the season. |

Itsrm:Baba u are comparing apples to oranges. Nobody goes into betting because they just want to throw away money. Adrenaline rush is never the satisfaction to be derived from betting, in fact that adrenaline rush is one of the negative side of betting; u would feel uneasy and get tormented with the near-there syndrome. For example look at Arsenal Vs Man city game few weeks ago. We would have people who bet on City to win against Arsenal considering City hasn't lost in their home stadium for a wile now and City are in good form. The game starts and City leads as expected . You will be happy and relaxed the game is going on as planned till Arsenal draw level. Then shortly after Arsenal takes the lead 2-1. At that point u start getting uneasy knowing how defensive Arteta can be when he really needs. Somehow Trossard gets a red card before half time and you are relieved City now has what it takes to draw the game and take the lead. Now for straight 45 minutes u will endure the torture of Arsenal blocking every shot, intercepting passes and frustrating city's attempt to wrap up the game against 10 man Arsenal. On 90 minutes u start cussing Guardiola, the players and even the referee if he fails to spot any infringement. You can literally see ur potential winning slipping off ur hands then City draws level but u played City to win. The match ends 2-2 and u let out a loud hiss. Everything go just dey vex u ![]() How is that for leisure? Let me tell u , people bet for two major reasons: 1. To make money which will serve as passive income if u have a job 2. To make big money cashout if u don't have a regular income and u see betting as a way to "make it" Unfortunately, when people do critical stock taking they always discover neither of those two goals gets realized in the long run(except for a very minute lucky few) |

BlueRayDick:And that is why they always end up disappointed and get addicted. My point ab initio is, you have to approach betting with a particular mindset. A mindset different from the usual. It's the one where I say, this 30k could have been used to drink beer. Let me use it to bet over the season. If I win once, I break even. If more than once, I'm in profit. If I lose, I could have used it to drink beer. I stick to the plan whatever the outcome is. |

The reason why Itsrm is speaking this way is because he is getting to gamble at a very very responsible age. He is matured, and able to know when to stop. I started my miserable journey to gambling in my final year. It was one bet hous at Abakpa, Enugu. The first game i played was with 100 naira, and i won 13k.. Na so Bet9ja take blend me. From then, it was back to back loses till i stopped. So, i can understand Itsrm if he insists he can stop. He's way more responsible and matured as a beginner. |

Ibime:There is a religious component to this which is the underlying and most important part. Once there is an ideological component to it, then it stops making sense and even money cannot placate them. Money becomes tagged a tool of the infidels. In the relatively peaceful Arab countries, there is a constant extreme that is barely getting suppressed and they even need external people to fight them. All those rich enjoyment Qatar UAE Saudi etc are only one virulent cleric and coup away from turning into Iran post Shah. See how Afghanistan, Lebanon and Iran turned from normal enjoyment societies into extreme ones between the 70s to the 90s Look at Arabian migrants into countries in Europe and the the West they still harbor the plan in their minds to spread their primitive ways of life. Its the same reason there is problems between Moslem and Jews, Moslems vs Hindus, Moslems vs Xtians, Moslem vs Atheist. You realize where there is an interface with Moslems, the extremists part always show up aggressively and warlike. and even 100% Moslem societies their moderates are not spared. Never mind the Shia vs Sunni The race towards extremism is never ending, One person will find something to be more extreme about. Like how ISIS made AlQaeda and Hezbollah look like Boys scouts |
